Focus on form first, then the details of each form, then the lighting. Doing this will make the piece look more cohesive and less choppy. Dont be afraid to take your time doing proper crosshatching when it comes to lighting a thing; the pay off is tremendous when you take your time forming each line instead of scribbling down uneven lines with fluxing values. Hold firm in form and depth, and the lighting will reveal itself to you.
Nice sketches tho; would be insanely awesome if someone was finally able to crack the infamous mesh encoding so we could edit armors via vrs. modeling programs and import them back into the game.
