In response to post #8216417. #8216903 is also a reply to the same post.

Most shots taken with RCRN, they used SSAO of nvidia drivers what is as performance friendly as enb is. my point is, that rcrn does not control fog very well what drives me crazy/or using enb. :)

The only real problem with RCRN was the very bright glare of snow and fog caused by the HDR used, but that has now been fixed in the beta available on aLaa's website. I think some of the ENB mods are very good but i'm very covetous of my fps. I try to keep it as near to 60 as reasonably possible and only SLI rigs can obtain that with ENB running all its eye candy. But its all a matter of taste and preference with these things. They both make Skyrim better it their own way. Its a win-win situation really.

i don't use ENB because of reasons people have stated

1. huge performance hog 2. it makes the game "prettier" not more realistic as many ENB setting claim.

it makes everything look way more stylized and pretty but realistic. no. i use a FXAA and weather mods and take no hit in performance. its like how i feel about motion blur, im gonna take a huge hit to huge performance....... to make the game blurring? what? WHY!

I know DOF does exist in real life, but since we have a focal point we never get to really see the blurriness that well.

For me, (opinion) dof in games is annoying. when I move my eyes from one focal point in game to another my eyes creates its own dof. I find it annoying to have to actually move my aim around to change that focus. It would be like if you couldn't move your eyes and had to move your head around to focus, I think owls do this.

Don't get me wrong, it looks cool in pics and all, but when I'm fighting for my life I need snap precision, not blurriness. (again opinion).

Thanks for the video, as for all "ENB's are not realistic" it's all a matter of taste just like any other mod. I enjoy screenshots that use ENB's but, I play with COT (mostly for performance), as you can see it's just a matter of personal taste. :)

It is a very subtle blur and most of the DoF applied to ENB is there mostly for taking screenshots not actual gameplay.

I totally agree with you that DoF does not belong in a game or to be more specific it does not belong in actual gameplay as it is so damn irritating, if it is a very intense blur. I have done some gameplay DoF with different enbeffectprepass.fx codes and mixed and matched the codes to achieve some good results, but still I never play with DoF active only have it active for dramatic screenshots.

Last note, what would games be if they weren't cinematic at all in their design and was as realistic as if it was like looking through a glass window.

realism isn't the final level of graphics quality.. in the next few years, games will look better than real life

Yes but then it is cinematic ;)

Ok let's end the discussion about this topic or it will go on forever I suspect.

@Teh Masterer - I can agree to that completely. They make Skryim look "better than real life" and to me it just feels off. I find it hard to be immersed in a cold and unforgiving place like Skyrim when it just looks too darn pretty.
@ Joltmajor - I understand completely what an ENB does and I know you can disable and configure a profile that perfectly matches what you want the game to look like. I have TRIED ENB before and did configure a very minimal personal profile, which I sorta liked but it didn't make a huge difference (because I set it up that way). When I recently reinstalled Skyrim I chose not to use an ENB because I didn't save my old profile and I didn't feel like reconfiguring it. What's the point of going through all the trouble if I'm just going to turn 90% of the features off?
