Thanks for the update!
How about setting up a PayPal Donation option, specifically for the new server stuff?
Should a certain monetary goal be reached, it could be removed again.
I guess traffic on the Nexus network will grow even more, once "The Witcher 3" and "Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord" come out.

Actually, I think a more useful measure would be how many of the D/Ls are unique. The ratio between dl and unique dl is how many people like the mod enough to keep using it after updates, etc.

Granted, I know next to nothing about the issues you're having, but if you're going to try to raise money in large sums, I'm more than willing to help with the accounting/tax issues - I'm a CPA. I'm sure there's a lawyer out there who could help file to create a non-profit or some kind to avoid any tax.

Therer are hugely underrated mods out there, and as soon as you upload a mod that is showing some skin, you'll get more downloads and endorsements, whereas mods that might be a bit more on the subtle side generally gain lesser attention (don't get me wrong, I'm using nude mods and I love them).
I wouldn't want the Nexus to become a hunt for endorsements. It's inspiration that should make modders go, not attention. I don't want modders to turn their backs on good ideas in favor of some cheap thrills. There's enough shallow competition in the so-called "real life", most of it leads to nothing but desaster. But I digress.
@TonyTitan: More than that, why should non-premium users not be able hide their mods? Hiding a mod is something very common and necessary in favor of the community if you have discovered a glitch in your mod and want to correct that and keep people from downloading and installing crap until the update is finished. This option is one of the elements that keeps the Nexus from becoming the garbage collection you find on other mod sites - besides the forums and the feedback, that is.
Premium users already have their advantages concerning download speed. We shouldn't waste our time constructing a premium - non premium user fight here. It's not all about the money, you know?
Low download count: I've seen cases in which modders give a fuzzy, unclear mod description that sounds interesting nevertheless or even because of that. So people download the mod and then after having tested it delete it. Makes 1 dowbnload for the mod that has nothing to do with the mod quality.
Besides I think the pure download count doesn't say much. Some mods are being introduced in the decription like the frontpage of some tabloid newspaper. Huge letters, god-knows-what ornamental design, eye catching stuff. That's fine with me, but I guess these mods are more likely to get attention and in consequence downloads just for the way they are presented.
Perhaps there should be a routine that after certain criteria is met (a specified time without updates or even almost no downloads or both, whatever) that sends an automatic mail to the modder in which he or she is asked to reply to click on a link in that mail if he wants to keep the mod online - much like you do it when subscribing a newsletter or so. If he does not, the mod will be deleted. Perhaps it could even be implemented that this happens automatically. So the modder can make the final decision.
Donations: All for it. But I wouldn't use PayPal or other s*** like that. I want a bank account to send my money to.

Hang in there ! Your all doing a wonderful job of this site!
But, it does remind me of when our company websites address was banned (2002) and our IP blocked by AT&T for propagating e-mail spam and viruses. We could still access our own site but none of our customers could. We were tearing our hair out and could not find any bad files or any e-mail being generated. To cut a long and nasty story short, it turned out our Web space hosting company had put a " central Asian" XXX site on the same server as us and it was spewing shite like an upside down waterfall!
AT&T never backed down and the address stayed blocked. We were not at fault and neither was AT&T. Had to move everything to a new hosting Company. What a pain.
So yes, I feel your pain and sympathize.
At least you own your own servers!
All the best.

Would you guys object to doing a kickstarter? (I don't really know how that works... but I've heard that some people can easily scam others on the site).
There are literally millions of people here, I'm sure if you need funds to hire a professional cluster technician it shouldn't require everyone to pitch in. According to the latest number from the Nexus sites, there are 5,729,643 registered members. If 1 out of every 1,000 people gave you $1.00 you would have about $5,700! But let's say that's too optimistic...
Considering the number of page views per day (roughly 5,200,000) let's say that in order to get that number each active member would need to look at 100 pages per day (which is hopefully an overestimate). That means there are probably around 52,000 active members--so then, in order to make at least $2,400 about 4.6% of those people would need to donate $1.00
So if about 1 out of every 20 people on the sites donated one measly little dollar, we could cover some of the cost of the technician. Perhaps money isn't the issue here, but I think it would be in everybody's best interest if hiring the cluster technician could get that cluster up and running!
EDIT: I bought a premium membership for a year. Yay!
Let me revise my numbers based on the membership costs:
If you need $10,000:
For a monthly membership ($2.49): you would need 4,000 donations = 7.7% of the 52,000 members
For the 3-month membership ($6.99): you would need 1,431 donations = 2.8% of the 52,000
For the 6-month membership ($11.99): you would need 834 donations = 1.6% of the 52,000
For the year membership ($19.99): you would need 501 donations = 0.96% of the 52,000
For the life membership ($39.99): you would need 250 donations = 0.48% of the 52,000
So on average, 2.7% of 52,000 members (remember this number is a vague estimate, hopefully an underestimate), roughly 1 out of 37 people, would need to buy a membership (assuming an even distribution of the types of memberships). That's 1,408 donations.
If you are a member and you read my post, please help out the Nexus sites and buy a membership! It doesn't take much money or that many people to make a big difference!

Same here!
First visit to the forums for me, as I noticed whilst browsing mods for Skyrim that I kept getting the 502 page come up. ;-;
