Whenever I attempt to download files it is pretty much hit and miss, sometimes I will get to choose my mirror and it will normally work, other times it will ignore that and go straight to the download where the majority of my problems occur.
The problem itself is that whenever it jumps straight to the download it either locks on "Starting" or the file never finishes and eventually cancels itself. I am running the latest stable version of Firefox and have tested this in IE as well with the same results (Instead of "A few seconds remain" I get locked at 99%)
An example is the Fallout 3 Balance Overhaul, on Firefox I start the download and it locks at "Starting Download", it never progresses and if I cancel it and try again it will refuse to load. On IE it starts fine, the progress bar goes to 99% then locks, but I have only downloaded 300kb out of 581kkb.
Any help that could be offered on the subject would be extremely helpful and most appreciated.

Well a little more information would be helpful.
Are you trying to open or save the files?
If you are trying to open, do you have the proper archive extractor for the file type enabled and configured?
If you are trying to save the file, where are you saving it to?
The files above 2mb go to the large file servers which allow you to select the server, files smaller than 2mb use a single server so there is no choice.
Give me a specific download and I can check it, which file and which server you are having problems with.

Sorry for the lack of information, I'll answer your questions as best I can.
I am always trying to save the files as I want to keep them in case I need to fall back to something, as for an extracter I have WinRAR and it is perfectly configured. As for the location, I am running Vista and it is going straight to My Documents\Downloads.
One file I have had considerable issues with is Fractured Nature, http://www.fallout3n...ile.php?id=3926, it's less than 2mb, I set it to save and the progress bar comes up as normal showing the current percentage, then it cuts off towards the end at 1.6mb out of 1.6mb, but there is still a chunk missing out of the progress bar. It also still says that I still have a download speed, even though I technically have the entire file.

I decided to grab the Downthemall addon as well to see if it improved anything and when I told the download to open it instantly displayed a near-completion progress bar with "Unknown time remaining" and no data being transferred. I am waiting a while for the download to reset again before I try another save to location attempt.
It is quite hit and miss on the nexus, I can download most files perfectly, then some just refuse to work at all. However I have never encountered this problem anywhere else.
EDIT: I re-downloaded it as a save-to file and the progress bar now proceeds accurately, yet it still fails to finalise the download and hangs at the end.

This sounds like a firewall / permission issue. Try some of these troubleshooting steps to see if you can pinpoint the problem.
If you have a software firewall, disable it temporarily and see if the download process works.
If you have an anti-virus program, disable it temporarily and see if the download process works.
Try adding the nexus sites as "Trusted" sites in your web browser.
Delete your web browser cache files.
Make sure you have free space on the drive you are saving too. Also, make sure you have plenty (> 2GB) of free space on your operating system drive where all the "Temp" variables point to...usually C:

First off I would like to say thank you for the responses I have recieved so far, they are very helpful and I really appreciate all that you are doing.
I disabled my firewall and anti-virus and was still unable to download the previously specified file, I then deleted my cache and cookies but that didn't work either.
I have another example of a file that refuses to download at all for me:
http://www.fallout3n...ile.php?id=3240
And a file that I can download perfectly:
http://www.fallout3n...ile.php?id=1250
Hopefully this information may help my case.

I was able to download the problematic file just fine using Windows XP / Firefox 3.0.5 (sitting behind a hardware firewall + TrendMicro anti-virus)
Please list all the Firefox plugins you currently have installed.
I have heard of many others using WinRAR without a problem so I do not think it has anything to do with that program...especially during download. But on the off-chance it is, try downloading and installing 7-Zip which can be found here at TESNexus (with some usage instruction) or the original site 7-Zip.com.

Technically this shouldn't really be considered an issue, but just for a note I'm running Windows Vista.
As for plugins, I have the following:
Adobe Acrobat v. 7
DivX Player Netscape plugin
DivX Web Player
DivX Content Upload Plugin
IGN Download Manager Plugin
Java Platform SE 6 U7
Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin
Default Mozilla Plugin
Shockwave Flash
Shockwave for Director
That's all, downloaded .7z from TESNexus fine, I used to download a lot from that for Oblivion and never had any problems (Same computer), but after downloading .7z there was no change. The ranger_helmet_texture_unlocker-3240.7z refused to start this time, rather than cancel I have let it run but nothing is happening whatsoever.
It is very strange, I can't run the files in IE either, so I don't think it is a problem with my browser as when I downloaded the same file with IE it reached 99% with 123kb out of 229kb. I am going to check my router and see if it is causing any problems.
EDIT: It appears that the website is not at fault at all, I decided to attempt the same download on a different computer in my network and it went through without a problem at all, it took less than a second at all. I think it may be AVG on my computer that is causing problems with the website and certain file types but you can consider the matter closed now. Again, thank you for all your help and I am happy to say that I can now access the Fallout 3 Nexus completely

Please let us know if it was AVG that caused this problem as well as what version you are using.
I believe another member on this site had the same problem which never was resolved (that I know about) and this sounds very similar.
Thanks,
LHammonds
