I do not use texture or graphics mods. Thanks for all the replies. Don't abandon me yet -- I'll go check the GPU.

Also, I tend to play on medium as far as graphics go.

I found something:

Intel® HD Graphics 4000

I don't know anything about computers so I don't know. All I know was that this computer was supposed to come with 4GB of RAM.

Lol...

There's your problem right there.

You can try running the following program/mod on your texture folder.

http://skyrim.nexusm...m/mods/12801//?

Tick Textures> On Profiles, Select Maximize, and choose Skyrim or ALL on the 2nd drop down menu.

Click Start

Click Maxim

Lol yeh your GPU is really weak for skyrim. if the above don't work you can always try using the console command to toggle grass ( press ~ then type tg hit enter press ~ )

There is your problem. That graphics card is not powerful enough. It is among one of the worst options for gaming, your RAM is fine for Skyrim but the Intel HD cards are really only for basic use of a computer and not for gaming.

Oh... I see. Lol that explains a lot, such as why my computer is high end but relatively poor on gaming.

It runs Oblivion and Fallout 3 pretty good though. Just New Vegas and Skyrim aren't so good.

So, any suggestions to a cheap alternative/replacement? And how expensive would it be to get the card replaced/installed, should I find a cheap, good new one?

You install it yourself, it's as simple as just popping it in the slot. and downloading the drivers for it.

as for which one it all depends on what you want, do you want a high end one? or a decent one? or a really... cheap one?

I am assuming you don't  have a laptop. If you do you can't change it but if it is a desktop then you can just go and buy yourself one of the internet and pop into the slot in your computer. You may as well go ahead and pay extra for a high end one so you don't have to worry about changing it for a long time.

I have a laptop. Would that be a problem?

I just want one that's cheap and better than what I have (as there would be no point in buying a new one if it's worse than my old one). But yeah you're right, it'd be better to invest in a high end one, especially if I want this laptop to carry me to Elder Scrolls 6.

Don't game with laptops is my solution for you. They are not made for gaming, they can yes. but just use a desktop.

But since you have a laptop there is no "cheap or even affordable" way to change the graphics card. you would have to A. buy a new laptop B. new desktop

You can almost never replace the graphics card in a laptop.

Laptops in general are very bad for gaming unless you specifically buy a $1500+ gaming laptop.

Oh lol, mine was about $140. It's really good too (relatively). Why can't graphics cards be changed out in laptop? I figured it was just something that you could go have someone remove and replace, unless the sizes are different.
