Its either built in card. or well, you have to take the entire freaking thing apart ( among other various technical issues with that ) then magically put it back together again. it's just not reasonably possible/affordable.

Yeah. Just go out and buy a gaming desktop. It sounds like you know very little about computers so I would ask someone who knows what is good for help.

Yeh but ask someone who actually knows wth they are doing.
If they say buy alienware don't listen too em :S
Also a cheaper and more effective way to get a good system is to buy the parts yourself. or ask someone who knows a lot about computers to make a list for you
then once you have all the parts since i am assuming you don't have the knowledge to put a pc together yourself. you can take all of it to Best Buy and pay them 50$ to put it together for you
could take a couple days though. but once you get it back you also have a warranty now on all the parts they installed.

4 gig is not much, i3 isn't also that great, but shouldn't be a big problem, but your graphics card is build into you cpu and build in graphics cards aren't good enough for most games. You should consider buying a videocard (the one I have costed me €170,- and can handle skyrim ultra 60 fps without mods) and also 2 á 4 gig of ram. Also, make sure if your PSU can handle the new videocard. And when you are buying some extra ram, make sure it fits into your motherboard, or take one from your pc and show it to the dealer you are going to, most of the time they know what type (ddr2, ddr3) you need.

He can't do that he has a laptop. He'll need to buy a desktop.

What kind of good gaming laptops are out there? Also, I want my laptop to be multi-purpose -- so I want something that's good as a work laptop as well. Although I think if it's just a good video card/RAM we're worried about, then it shouldn't matter -- right?
Damn, those people must have lied to me. I asked the Best Buy people which computers would be cheap and able to run Skyrim well. It's a good laptop, but not for Skyrim.

You shouldn't ask people whos job it is to sell you things.
Good gaming laptops don't exist. they just are not meant for gaming. and since you can't change the parts ( easily / affordable )
Laptops become out of date fast and won't be able to handle newer demands. your best bet is to buy a cheap work laptop and a gaming desktop. gaming desktops can be made/bought custom made rather cheaply if you don't buy from a store. Like roughly 700-800$ could get you a pretty good system. and you wouldn't need to upgrade it for at least 2 years.

I don't have that kind of money at the moment, and if I did I'd probably save it.
Well that sucks, maybe when they have another sale I'll try to find one of those minority laptops which doesn't have it's graphics card integrated.

The problem is, there are laptops that can run Skyrim well but as fifteenspades said you can't update them and they are also very expensive. Just don't get a laptop if you are going to be playing games on it.
