Bla bla, mainstream sux, mainstream doesn't, back and forth. can't a compant try to make it self better? Besides we all know we are all gonna buy it anyways. Can't people get excited about new games, everybody's gotta pregnant-dog about it.of course everyone gets excited whe nthey first hear it but them the longer they wait the more they start regurgitating reasons why its gonna suck,so pessimistic.I think its going to be great ok, they made arena, daggerfall, morrowind, which ar eall very popular, thye decided to make fallout, i think bethesda knows what there doing and will deliver like they usually do. Well, theres my rant...

[QUOTE]And you know youd buy it anyway

From what I've read thus far, I doubt I will for some time after it comes out. If it ever looks to me as if the modding community has managed to create enough mods for it to somehow turn into an RPG, then I will likely buy it. Until then, there's precious little reason for me to...... I'm just too damned old to try and master some twitch based Doom-with-swords-wannabe action game complete with beat the beaver mini-games, and wouldn't enjoy it if I tried.

Who are trying to make it self better? Not Bethesda, that's for sure! To try and reach the mainstream gamer is certainly not the same as trying to be better! Probably - and of course I don't know this for sure - they're only making the game shorter and more shoot'em-like to please the average gamer. This is what I call f**** your fanbase, not trying to improve. And all this "you know you gonna buy it anyway" is, to me, a very strange argument. First of all, that is NO reason to make the game mainstream, shorten it and what have you. Second, I'm positive that many players aren't going to buy it because of this.

There you have my 2 cents.

At any rate, I say we all perform a daring daylight of Bethesda's offices on elephant back! :P

But I just sold my elephant for some magic soybeans... Theyre gonna sell like hotcakes if the crop is good!

Anyway, the way I see it, if you dont buy it, at least rent it once it comes out. But dont be like me and rent it four times, to the point where you could have bought one for the same ammount... I feel like a dope for doing that with Morrowind :D .

You guys are pretty lame.

Bashing a game you haven't played = tsk tsk from everyone else.

Lame? All the criticisms are based upon what the developers themselves have said about the game. Let's see, compared to Morrowind,: It will be smaller. It will be shorter. It will be more action oriented, as opposed to RP oriented. It will have less than half the number of guilds and factions, and about 1/3 the number of NPC's, i.e. even the side quests will be fewer. There will now be mini-games to complete quests like lockpicking and armor repair, rather than having your skill levels control it. And that's comparing it to Morrowind, without Tribunal and Bloodmoon.... just imagine if I compared it to Daggerfall.
All this to try and appease the mythical mainstream consumer. Morrowind sold how many copies? How many copies of Tribunal and Bloodmoon? Or GOTY? But that isn't mainstream enough, now we turn into a hack n' slash? Bah.
