I also was experiencing the black squares/messed up icons problem. So I tried the TexMod Only attempt and it launches TexMod and the game loads fine but it does not load the new textures...am I missing something here?

EDIT: Problem solved...AV was blocking TexMod for some stupid reason

See the new wiki article 'Modifying Textures - XCOM:EU 2012', which covers how to install TexMod for either EU or EW.  It could benefit from editing by someone who actually uses TexMod to flesh out some details, such as what TPF files are and how to tell it which TPF files to use.

Dubious,

I have yet to test-run UMod (to either replace TexMod processing(s) altogether or simply as some testing solution) but it looks promising for User-Friendly options.

Currently working on a huge UI overhaul (Re-CoLoRing) and i certainly (must - as everyone else!) use TexMod familiarity since it does the job quite well.

The only weird stuff about all of this is the whole installation (enforced) methods. Just wish some freaky genius out there would find us a much easier way to integrate TexMod features. I've asked ToolBok's author to look at that possibility, hoping she'll find the time and will to create a special new tab area in her mod for such graphical enhancing tools or a straight way to insert TexMod and/or alikes.

I'll make certain to refer my D/L'ers of ReCLR files @ the above WiKi-Article to inform them about that proper install procedures for TexMod.

Thanks!

Dracous79 deserves all the praise for digging into that issue and providing the solution.  I just turned his hard work into a wiki article.

Great Work Neonin!!! Using the last toolboks (Beta) 1.6.4, maybe there are a bug in the parser the .txt file. I have to deleted the "comments" like this:

UPK_FILE=XComGame.upk
OFFSET=6212619
[MODDED_HEX]
20 20 20 20 20 20

Ty for the work!

Is there an older version of this you can post somewhere that works with Long War and EU patch 356266? NVM  I found it :smile:

Edit: Or not. Is this EW only? :sad:

Edit 2: Figured it out using: http://wiki.tesnexus...th_EW_expansion

ToolBoks 1.6.4 switched the characters it uses for comments from the previous versions.  Just replace all ' { ' with ' /* ', and ' } ' with ' */ '.

I have to say, your icons and textures are really eye-popping. At first I thought they may be too distracting compared to the rest of the UI, but I've found that they just seamlessly integrate and make everything look great. :3

Thank you!

Out of curiosity, do you plan on eventually using your icons on the pop-up notifications (such as when your soldiers go into overwatch/hunkerdown/etc)?
