Hi everyone.  I'm not sure if this is the right forum, so please let me know if I'm not in the right place.  Recently I moved and I've been playing Skyrim on my old laptop. It was running fast and fine, no problems, but when I got Xfinity through Comcast, all of a sudden my game lags and sometimes freezes all together.

Does anyone know if there's anything I can do to regain my speed and performance right now? I'm not sure where to begin so I'd appreciate your ideas.

Thanks so much,
Tracy

Have you tried Gamebooster?

Another thing you can do is reduce the quality of your shadows a bit and there is a few mods that reduce some textures to improve quality while still retaining the game's beauty. There is one I really like which resizes the textures for falling leaves and pine needles. You get a alright boost from that and don't notice anything.

You can also try some .ini tweak. There's quite a few guides out there to help you out.

Hope that helps.

Do you have to install anything to use this Xfinity? does it include online video on demand? some video on demand services not only upload from their own servers but also from users who have the content downloaded, the constant disk access isn't going to help with gaming. Try removing anything you installed to use the service. One of the worst culprits is a thing called Pando Media Booster, have a look in your programs or services and get rid of/disable it.
