also i noticed something weird. many times when i face an enemy with a two-handed weapon i let him swing first so i back off and when he hopefully misses i go in for a hit and keep doing that. but sometimes even if i see him miss and go in for the hit the animation of him killing me occurs... i mean he missed! there should be a time window for him to make another swing right?? but no... they one shot me with full hp... is it a vanilla bug? thanks for taking the time to read this people. happy gaming

Hey i'm new to this overhaul. started playing it a week or so. But although it says "the roleplaying overhaul" i cant role play as an assassin at all.. i mean i have to invest at so many trees (speech, evasion, sneak, one handed, block, blacksmithing) that in the end i'll become jack of all trades.I even HAVE to use a bow.i hate that. i want to invest only on sneak and one handed and evasion. but who can play the game with such high prices and dont get the haggle perk? or the first blacksmithing perk to create leather to make leather armor. am i doing something wrong? you even need block in order to block. so if i have to start having fun i need to be lvl 10 in order to invest more into the trees i want?

Make a list of skills you absolutely need (your major skills) and what would be nice to have. Always give priority to your major skills. In your case, One-handed weapons, Sneak and perhaps Alchemy or Illusion are very important skills to have. Once you have spare perk points and no imminent perks to invest in, you can place a point in a skill like smithing or speech.
You don't need Block badly, because your victims don't fight back: they're dead before they know it. The same for Speech, Evasion, Smithing, ...: you can do without.
Try a mod like Dance of Death to disable those stupid killmove animations against you. 9 out of 10 they are completely misplaced: since I used it, I almost never die in a melee fight, while before every 2-hander killed me from five meters away with there 'extendable' hammers.

I am now at level 31 and I still die a lot. I put all my points into magicka and stamina at first(5 per level), then only magicka, so I ended up with almost 400 magicka(with buffs), around 190 stamina (also with buffs) and 90 health(100 if well rested). Even so, I can barely cast spells that belong to magic schools that I have no perks invested in. I use bows for most human/animal enemies and destruction magic(fire) for anything else(I have expert robes of destruction, only because I was lucky enough to find one). The only skill I mastered is pickpocketing. It's rather easy if you have the patience. Most mages kill me in one shot, as do most fighters, but I can kill them in 1 shot to, 2-3 for heavy armord ones. I like this a lot and it's using the custom settings of Requiem for a harder experience. I'm vulnerable when I fight multiple enemies and I die a lot, if I can't come up with a good plan. I also have Lydia and some INPCs follower, as tanks. In Dustman Chairn(sp?...companions quests) I had one mercenary( I paid 5000 septims to hire him and he died in the last chamber, no refunds lol), Lydia, Uthgred(also died in the last chamber), Farkas, the INPCs follower and a custom wolf companion. So 6 companions and me + a staff to summon a fire atronach(good against draugr) and only I was standing with low health when the final wave of draugr attacked. If not for their protected status, everyone would have died. I even gave them all healing potions and silver weapons+arrows. Best fight I had in years. No more hack and slash, just good planning!!
I am rather good with potions to(good amount of perks invested there) and I make a decent profit by selling whatever I don't use(30.000 septims so far). I became a werewolf and got more health and stamina. A much needed boost, at least for health. Now I plan to buy Breezehome with the money I have and make Whiterun my home city(since I'm a thane there).
So far I'm having the best experience since Skyrim came out.

Character Build – Plunderer
Race: Wood Elf
Levelling: All points into magicka.
Standing Stone: Mage Stone
Early/Mid-Game Skills
Major Skills
Archery
Alchemy (poisons, healing potions, source of income, elemental and magic resistances, passive skills, effective vs dragons)
Conjuration – (undead followers, summon daedra, soul trap, summon bound sword & bow)
Sneak
Minor Skills
Lockpicking
Pickpocket
Late-Game Skills (Level 35+)
1st Priority - Smithing – (To create dragonbone light armour and bow in game, temper gear & daedric artefacts, jewelcraft for income, create powerful arrows with mined ores)
2nd Priority - Enchanting – (damage buffs, magic resistance)
Roleplay
I have used Alternative Start – Live Another Life mod and my first task will acquiring my family’s home; Jaggersfeld.
After acquiring a stable base of operations, to return to after my daily activities and adventures, my mindset will be on increasing one’s wealth for future gear purchases, horses, status and skill training through Alchemy. Others benefit of increasing one’s Alchemy skills is that I will also be levelling up my character, discovering the effects of ingredients and especially poisonous effects. Poison is not only very immersive and enjoyable to use but also very effective against all living creatures (light and heavy bandits, falmer, mages as it poisons them through their wards, animals, dragons!!!)
Once I have my horse, respectable equipment and decent poison skills I will set out on my adventures.
I will not be joining the Companions as I care little for the trifles of others nor do I care for debatable conceptualizations of ‘Honour’. Furthermore, becoming ‘one of the family’ is implicit to joining the Companions and this character prefers his independence, freedom and personal profit than the welfare of the group
I will complete the Thieves Guild and all the side missions after completion to acquire all for the Thieves Guild Armour and of course for the prestige. Specifically for Requiem, I will also gain access to the Bag of Holding (+100 carry weight) which is wonderful to supplement one’s looting. I will also complete the Dark Brotherhood and Mages Guild (to acquire high level Conjuration spells and complete Labyrinthian for the challenge).
I won’t be playing dead as dead but I will be behaving as though I was mortal. Therefore I won’t be incessantly reloading attempting to kill the same enemies 10-30 times until I luck out or defeat them through a perfect set of actions or environmental/AI exploits. If I cannot defeat them reasonably at a given time, I will leave and return when the odds are more in my favour.
Conjuration was included in the build to add spice to it but also to legitimately player with a follower, albeit undead. I can also summon daedra lords/storm atronachs down the line which is not only pure badassery but also helps towards compensate for some of the inherent weakness of Archery vs particular enemy types. Bound Bow is powerful, multi-purpose and has ‘infinite’ arrows (downside I believe it is loud to cast). Apparently, I have heard, that Conjuration can heal the undead (vampires!)
My character will need to eat, sleep and drink (iNeed) and will be take reasonable carry against the elements (Frostfall).
Vampirism is one of my characters goals, my character is not pleased with involuntary death so becoming a creature of the night is a sight better than the alternative. The health/stamina buffs, arrow resistance, healing via drinking blood, improved sneaking & illusion magic perks are fantastic also, not to mention the sinister eyes.
I may use a few shouts I enjoy using during my playthrough but I should not need them unless fighting very powerful enemies (Dragon Priests/Vampires/Centurions/Enchanted Spheres).

For the sake of your sanity - put few points into Stamina to get some speed boost and to be able to outrun your enemies.

How much stamina do you think I need to improve my speed?
I will be getting the first perk of Light Armour for the 10% speed boost.

On my Breton mage I went for 150 base Stamina + Agillity perk from Evasion tree and it works really nice. I can outrun most enemies and burn them from afar keeping distance all the time. Some will say that those 12 level ups were wasted and should go to magicka but from practice I see that Stamina is the most important stat in Requiem.
2 points into One-handed, ebony dagger from Helgen, 1 point in Conjuration for Ghostly Wolf and all low level areas are yours to conquer. Work hard on Alchemy and with earned gold train magic skills and buy spellcaster related items. Why bother with melee on a mage ? Because early mana pool and your magic tools will be to weak to do anything. Later on some One-handed specialization will be usefull to fight undeads with silver weapon and enemies with high magic absorption/resistance.
Edit: Now I see Archery in your build
Without trainers this skill is very hard to progress. But hey! you have Alchemy and later plenty of gold for trainers ...
Install Hunterborn to get some nice amulets and arrows.

Most of my mage builds start with increasing health, because you can't cast spells when you're dead
. It also increases my carry weight a litlte (about 15, before switching to magicka).

Add in alteration to your Paladin build. I'm playing a Paladin-to-be now. Alteration fits in nicely because it helps the Paladin become not only a physical tank but also a magical tank!
You'll need to wear mage robes and hood with heavy gauntlets/boots if you want to cast anything before you have those spellcost reduction perks (Battlemage and One of the Alteration perks) though.

For those that want to play an "Atronach Stone" mage (no magic regeneration, but a large pool), I just found an interesting combination: The Stone of the Atronach and the perk Alchemistic Intellect. The latter increases your magicka pool with another 100 magicka and, very important, adds a 1 m/s regeneration to your character
.
So if you always wanted to play a mage that has a limited number of spells and needs to regenerate before starting a new fight, you could start a new build and add the Stone of the Atronach as a spell to your character, and Alchemistic Intellect as a perk. Just open the console and type:
help "Stone of the Atronach"
help "Alchemistic Intellect"
This gives you the id of the spell and perk. Then type
player.addspell atronach_id
player.addperk alch_id
Enjoy
