Ok how do yuo break the roots of the trees because i really can't find out how, thankyou!

May I recommend the sites UESP and UHS. Both give comprehensive clues to all quests. I prefer UHS for two reasons. Firstly the clues come in several parts so you don't need to see the whole solution in one go. Secondly, if I raise anything with the guy who wrote the clues he is polite enough to answer. UESP has always failed to reply.

You can't break the roots.

Falco (or Carnius) will tell you to talk to a guy in the bar. He asks you to kill 4 Spriggans. He then asks you to look at the roots in the mine. If you ask anyone in the mine they will tell you where to find them.

Once there you get a journal update. Go back to the guy in the bar and he will now let you escort him there. When you have arrived he will tell you he needs to poison the roots and you need to fetch him the ingredient he asks for. You give them to him. After the journal update report back to Falco/Carnius.
