I've been reading the threads on the fourth trial and killing a councilor, but none of them have helped me solve my mess. I'm on the fourth trial and sometime way earlier in the game, when I was a niave young Knightess, I killed Llethri (redoran councilor). Now that I am trying to become Horator, they of course hate me. I never got a "you're dead thread" when I killed LLethri so I'm thinking there has to be something I'm missing. I think there is a quest to save his son, but isn't that a side quest? can I get around this? I know there are a ton of posts on this, but they all address killing Venim. He is still alive in my game so it gives me hope. Also, all my saves are post-mortem so I can't go back to the good old days when he was alive and well. I am at level 67 and the thought of restarting is more than I can bear....Sorry for a tired post but I'm just not getting it...

If you are on PC you can reinstate him although this may not change the attitudes of the others. Placeatpc"Garisa Llethri" 1,20,3

There is always the back way to completing the main quest if that does not work.

Kill Vivec for the second wraitheguard and collect Kagrenac's planbook and journal from the Red Mountain Citadels and take them all to the last living dwarf in Tel Fyr.

The rescue of the son is Varvur Sarethi. You have to do this as part of the main quest if you don't take the back route.

There is a quest to help Fathasa Sarethi with her son but you can only get that as a vampire.
