I would like to apologies if this Topic is already been posted because I'm desperate in need of help. 

 

Sorry for my bad grammar or spelling.

 

PROCESSOR: Intel Core i5-2500 (3.3G) 6mb 32nm

MOTHERBOARD: Asus P8H67 LE H67 V/S/GL

RAM: Kingston 8GB 1333 ddr3

HARD DISK: Western Digital 1.0TB (Black)

VIDEO CARD: Inno3D GTX550Ti 2gb ddr5 192bit hdmi

 

My PC is 3 years old 

 

I was weird out that my games (games only) suddenly slowed down. I did not experienced this before. I did some trial and error, still problem occurs. Here are the following:

 

1. Formatted the PC (I thought this will answer my prayers) 

2. Skyrim.ini and Skyrimpref.ini tweaks (don't worry had back-ups)

3. Lowered Skyrim Graphics and Display (Even in 1280x720. Even in MWO, Hawken, AC:Revelations) 

4. FPS tweaks (Read some forums, and was thinking it was FPS problem)

5. No more Skyrim Mods (Sad  )

 

I would like to save some game quality like sustaining 1600X900 or sustaining mods. What should I do? Any suggestions? Would you say my Vidcard is dying or something? 

 

Your comments / suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

did u install the latest nvidia drivers? many reported that their performance dropped!

 

they suggest this driver 314.22  and here the link to download them... before u install them, enter safe mode and clean sweap ur prev drivers, also clean ur registry http://www.nvidia.co...hql-driver.html

 

because the newer, dropes fps about 60-70!!  here is a topic in overclockers.

- Yup! I did installed the latest Nvidia Driver. So I did tried installing the 314.22. Used uninstall tool and ccleaner to completely remove the previous installed nvidia driver. 

 

- I tried playing Skyrim it was good at first. it stabled to 60fps then 58.....45...43.....51....34.....23.

 

- I'll do a "trial and error" again.

check for viruses maybe?  Did you modified the skyrimprefs files and ini? Maybe u did something there? Try another game. Also. what about your CPU?

 

Skyrim is cpu limited, because of xbox... If your cpu is strong, your gpu performs at maximum, if its slow, it limits your fps...

Check your card and CPU temperatures. Those kinds of slowdowns tend to happen when one (or more) of your components starts overheating. And at what setting are you hoping to run Skyrim?

 

@ermacos It's an Intel i5 2500K, it provides 30% more per-core than an FX 8320 that runs Skyrim at 60FPS stable on stock frequency. It's more likely the 550 Ti is the bottleneck since it's ~30% slower than my 7770 which can't run Skyrim at 60FPS on Ultra.

-well...I had my pc reformatted..virus won't be a problem.

-I did some modifications and I have back-up to return things back to normal

-I did try AVP and Dark Souls: Prepare to Die

GPU AND CPU temp

-I did some temp checking on CPU and GPU...

-CPU is ok and I don't know GPU. when playing my temp from 40ish Celsius to 80ish Celsius..that's normal right? 

-I guess my thermal pastes are due..I will replace them and do some few cleaning.

 

SKYRIM Setting

-Before the problem. My Skyrim Settings on High. I guess it's the mods too.

I researched about temperatures and landed on "NVIDIA INSPECTOR". and watched a video from youtube that this app will help increase performance. I tried what the video suggested, and tried playing skyrim and other games, it all went smoothly. What do you guys think?

Your cpu is overheating, that chip has a maximum safe load temperature of 72.6°C if you're hitting 80°C that's a problem, Intel cpus can usually take higher heat than whats recommended, but make no mistake it can and will cause damage and shorten its life span. Most cpus are guaranteed to last at least 5yrs, so if its been running for 3yrs hitting 80°C on the regular then your i5 is probably going to die. Do a virus check also. Reformatting the hard drive does NOT get rid of all viruses. The kind people who make viruses know that trick and have for a long time, so most trojan viruses have a way of protecting themselves from a hard drive reformat. Either by looking like an already reformatted section or simply moving itself to a newly reformatted section of your hard drive while its being formatted.

-  Do you have any suggestions on how to get rid of these viruses? We all know that would be very impossible and since you stated that even "reformatting the hard drive does NOT get rid of all viruses". 

 

CPU

- thanks for the info. That I do not know about the maximum safe load. Like I said my CPU is still ok. CPU temp stays on 40ish Celsius. 

- The one shooting up to 80ish is my GPU. I don't know the lifespan of the GPU.
