I killed DU and finished all the main quest items (I think at least) so why do I get the message that I will not be able to fufill the prophecies?

It's a generic warning. You'll get the same response if you kill anyone else who was needed in the main quest. (If you are a member of the Morag Tong, and get the four grey writs only available after the main quest is finished, you have to kill Dram Bero. You get the same error warning even though the grey writs are part of the game.)

Just ignore it.

And in case you didn't know, you can complete the quest without Vivec much more quickly. Kill Vivec and take the device on his corpse to Yagrum Bagarn, collect two books so he activates wraithguard, collect keening and sunder and kill Dagoth Ur. You're Nectarine before you know it!

Is THAT what the Kagrenac books are for? Never did find a use for them...

Yah, but 2 things:

1) You lose some health.
2) it's Nerevarine. Nectarine is a fruit. (as in the round orange dele that has seeds and jiuce, not the human. i know what you were thinking...)

various people make the necarine mistake. anyway I was wondering: where are kags books? I know I found one of them in dagoth ur but where is the other one?

You did not find it in Dagoth Ur. It is in one of the other Sixth House Citadels. Odrosal, Endusal, Vemynal and Tureynulal each contain an importany item if you are finishing the main quest via the back route. These are Kagrenac's two books, Sunder and Keening (not in that order).

BTW I choose to use the term Nectarine, originally coined IIRC by Wesaynothin, because I like to.

Oh, yeah I think one was found in Vemeyal or whatever but it was called Kargeacs Journal.
