This is a unexpected turn of even, looks like there is a entire line of Nvidia cards coming out this year, and very soon to because the specs are already confirmed, which means they could be out as soon as next month. That's their laptop gpu's, with the 8gb of ddr5

That's something to look forward to, especially when it comes to the actual Desktop models. It gives a reference what to expect from Nvidia.

 

It'll bring down the gtx780 ti price, as the newer models come out. Like what happened to the gtx760's

Rebranded GTX 680 also isn't the same as something big is on its way. If it's a reference for what to expect from Nvidia, that would be a reference to expect nothing.

 

These amounts of VRAM would comprise pure stupidity. While 4GB on 780GTX can be explained by epeenz, jamming 8GB on the same bus of the same GK104 chip would require further doubling of chip capacity or count. Extra capacity would command a further premium in addition to the sheer volume.

 

Even if, for a moment, we assume they were jammed into the "flagship" for epeenz' sake, there is no way they would be put anywhere else, due to deficit, cost, and being useless, thus losing out to competition, since anything other than the top version is a price/performance game.

8GB would be silly on 98% of video cards. I can see it being viable on two or more desktop GTX 880s running in SLI, but nothing short of that. And honestly, even then it's overkill. Methinks they're either just using the VRAM as a selling point, or the leak is at least partially inaccurate. Or maybe Nvidia is trying to use VRAM as RAM for the next generation of integrated graphics. No idea.

Thank goodness i waited until Ces, people where telling me to wait.

 

When they announce a gpu, a month later its out or even in 3 weeks time.

I don't like to deal in random speculation.

It's really "Joe N thinks this and Joe M thinks that", with one of them knowing someone who might know someone at Nvidia or maybe not because they don't want to tell.

 

Videocardz is also a site you may want to consider ignoring, since they not just report rumors, but make rumors themselves out of random posts pulled from forums and social networks.

 

Accordingly any resource that treats Videocardz as a source should be treated with appropriate respect for its veracity. If said resource happens to misquote Videocardz, a week later their misquote will be reported on Videocardz as a new rumor, because that's what they do.

 

I get to receive news and occasionally hands on new hardware a while sooner than the official NDA end, and let me tell you, the time people can really tell you what a product will be is either when the specs are released or when first samples are shipped. The signal/noise ratio before that is impossible to extract information out of.

Crossing fingers if its true, I mean woww, hoping its true. Sense CES is on right now, things are in real time. This may be the giant leap we have been waiting for,

Is Nvidia trying to destroy the competition, we'll have to wait and find out. Excitement if its true. If this rumoured gpu is true, i am hoping it'll have the same price tag as a gtx780 ti.

Yeah and you'll get a free i7 4970X with it!

 

The dual-GPU market is not really in competition with the single-GPU market. If they do jam two GK110's on one board, the price will be 2xGK110+10%, i.e. $1,299 launch with eventual drop to $999.

 

Real enthusiasts SLI/CFX separate cards, not buy "all in one" solutions. I'll stick to two GTX 780Ti's to run circles around such a card, should it be released, thanks to higher clocks, and be far easier to sell come upgrade time.
