TheMastersSon Posted February 10, 2014 Share Posted February 10, 2014 I have Viranus Donton as a companion and would like to start a new game, and use him as follower through the main quest. But he's not available as a follower until well into the Fighter's Guild quest. Can I just ignore the main quest until I've reached that point in the Fighter's Guild, and can use him as a companion? Tidus44 Posted February 10, 2014 Share Posted February 10, 2014 Yes. I have played Oblivion where the last thing I did in the game was the main quest. Thinking it over, I have actually never played where I completed the main quest first and then did anything else. I tend to do something to level up a bit before taking on an Oblivion Gate and wind up side tracked with various guild and side quests.I just reinstalled the game on the weekend and I think I may just see what its like to complete the main quest before doing anything else. The only quests that triggered in the quest log other than main quest was about Thorinir and the door in Niben Bay. While it was entirely fun to do, I admit to a brief feeling of being rather lost and wondering, "What do I do now?" after Ocato made me Champion and promised me armor. Just a weird moment before realizing there was still months of play left in the game. Not sure, but I doubt my character is strong enough for Verona House Bloodlines as a following quest though. Now I need to figure out why his dialog is stuck on "We should get back to Oreyn", while my former game has him speaking all the regular FG/generic dialog -- even though both new and old games are at exactly the same point (with regard to him -- TheMastersSon, stage 70). Tidus44 Posted March 3, 2014 Share Posted March 3, 2014 Got started on the thieves guild questline, not the fighters guild, so I am not sure how or what one has to do to have Donton as a follower. I also had almost 2 years of not playing Oblivion, so I don't exactly recall how the Fighter's Guild questline goes.
