Although I agree that some caution should be given, I do not agree with the severity of your stance. Yes, there are alot of really, truly screwed up people out there, but you are in a way suggesting that anyone who happens to be aroused by this kind of thing is inherently one of those truly screwed up persons, and as a result will eventually perform those kinds of acts. Like with video game violence, the evidence just doesn't support this. There are quite literally tens of thousands who happen to like this kind of thing in a hand drawn, entirely fictional, animated setting, but who are not out committing crimes. There is a very significant difference here. Watching or reading this stuff does not harm anyone else, and does not involve anyone else. Real pedophilia however does harm others, often directly, and does involve others. Just like with video game violence, it is one thing to play a game where you are mowing down people left and right, and something entirely different to go through the act of buying a gun, planning who or where you are going to kill, and pulling the trigger on real people. The gateway theory, in almost every application just doesn't work since most of us can tell the difference between things that entertain or interest us, and don't break laws or harm others, from those things that do. Even that stereotypical goth kid who plays doom (I know, dated, but this is how things have been typified) for 18 hours a day, has a parent who owns dozens of assault weapons, and has shot those weapons previously, STILL makes the decision to point the gun at another real person, and pull the trigger. The exact same is true in this case. The person needs to be screwed up first, and make conscious, albeit irrational, decisions to do harm. In many cases, people are drawn to this kind of porn just because it's there, and it's something different. You don't need to live down on the farm to enjoy bestiality porn, or even be attracted to animals since most bestiality porn just features human women servicing or being serviced by said animals. Sex is sex is sex, the only thing that matters is how loosely you define sex, and how bored you happen to be.

 

Actually, I think we agree more than you might think. Yes my stance is severe. I said it's one of my soapboxes. Been working in the field and teaching the subject for a long time. It's a pretty widely held theory in the biz that the reported cases are just the tip of the iceberg. It is so far underreported there is no absolute way to quantify definitely whether or not the studies hold true or not. Not trying to be argumentative. It just is what it is.

 

I did say...

Using loli mods does not mean the viewer/player will absolutely act on their desires, BUT as I said, many self proclaimed pedophiles have said their fantasies began early in life- preteen to teen aged. These fantasies often become OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) like, in that there is a strong compulsion eventually to try out the acts they've fantasized about for so long. Why help them along by providing content that depicts the acts they crave, legal or not?

 

Also bear in mind, that like you said, the individual is usually messed up from the get go, so as I said-

We're just talking about a different breed of animal with pedophiles. That's why the studies on violence tied to video games and what not don't apply in the same manner. I do agree with you on that too. In games, I'm a huge hack and slasher, so is my daughter, but neither one of us would hurt another unless put in an extremely unusual or dangerous position calling for that type of action for sheer survival.

 

So you're right, I think we both agree on the bottom line which is-

by Vagrant: Put simply, this is still a bad idea, and probably isn't something you should be doing. Most people voting don't even know what they're voting on, or don't really care enough. It is not an issue of opinion, it is an issue of legality and liability. If you do this, getting flamed or voted down for uploading will likely be the least of your concerns.

 

And sorry, this is totally off topic, but I just love that Avatar of yours. It always makes me smile for some reason. :)

I haven't read some of the really long posts, so this has probably already been brought up. A couple years back I used to watch... (uhh, I forget the term. I'll just go with what I got off of Wikipedia) "Extreme pornography". It always made me feel sick and gave me headaches afterwards... I have mental issues and sometimes I think way too much and get lost in my mind, so in a way I used to use those sick violent pornography to destroy my mind and stop all the thoughts and worrying and paranoia for a little bit. I was... very new to sexual stuff, I had only started.... 'you know' at 16. I haven't looked at or even wanted to look at any "extreme porn" in about a year or two. I think the fact that I actually started having sex over a year ago helped, going through a dry streak right now, and... nope still no urge to go back to that stuff.(lol at turning the S word in to "poo")

 

 

Part of it was because I'm so opposed to all these acts, I... don't even like regular porn. Part of me wanted to understand why.... all it did was sicken me at the sight of these acts and those monsters.

There were discussions similar to this on sadistic mods such as those that were inspired by Hellraiser. I'm a fan of bondage and sado-massochism. And since I want my freedom to indulge in it through mods, I can apply the same standard to loli fans.

So to speak, in some forms of Lolicon I thought it was adults just drawn to look like children, for example I've seen plenty of anime or games with girls who look around 13 or 14 but it says they're like 18 or 19 on the information page.

 

But in fact this is also a real phenomenon, not just people telling lies about age (easy to do on a fictional character) so it's not illegal. I once dated a 22 year old woman who looked like she was 14. Some men are attracted to that.

If you mean a simple realism mod with kids, then it's perfectly fine by me, it's not your fault if people use sex mods on them.

 

But if you are going to make a mod with kids AND dedicated sex action, kidnapping, etc. Then you should be tracked down and put down

From my understanding loli doesnt mean necisarily devious material, its just material about young girls, I just got done playing through as a kid in fallout 3, with a kid companion, and Im pretty sure if that was in manga form it would be considered loli even though no sexual activities occured. Just two little girls, tearing up the wastelands. My character had all sorts of cyborg perks from Starkes perk package. So I could see that happening specially if you look at an anime like Gunslinger girl.

 

In oblivion, I would like playing a child character, but I also like using two handed swords and long bows, so that wouldnt make much sense in comparison, in an RP perspective I would either need very magical weapons, or very magical effects that make my character stronger.

 

From a non gaming point of view, I have seen anime about love, involving young girls, that would be considered loli, but there was no graphic content, and no adults involved in it, so I fail to see how that would be considered wrong by anyone.

 

Saying all loli is bad would be like saying all straight porn is ok, even if it involves rape or snuff. Especially since loli does not have to be pornographic in nature, or any such thing.

Oh, I don't know. There's something to be said for disproportionately sized weaponry - a small person with a giant sword is almost more intimidating than a large person with a giant sword. I can see what you mean though, it doesn't sound terribly realistic.
