I don't think this is related to any mod I have (FCOM + few more), but basically after I open the Kvatch gate and we clear out all the monsters in the courtyard, Salvian Matius (guard captain) just stands there and if I approach him he yells "Charge the courtyard! leave none of them alive!"

...and that's where the main quest is stuck.


Any idea how I get around this?

In my game, he also did not want to enter the castle, so here is what I did. I went alone for the count's ring and gave it to Savlian. The quest did finish as it was supposed to, but I think it skipped one quest update message.

Thanks! I'll give that a try and let you know how it worked out! I'm lvl 20 and with FCOM this is completely different (much better) Oblivion than vanilla. I'd hate to stop at this stage

lol learn to pay attention to what npc's say he said his tired of fighting so u proceed and he stay's there

Kinda sad that you're fighting a demonic invasion all by yourself with just 1 more guy standing outside lol

Nashod, Savlian says that he is tired of fighting when you bring him the count's ring. After that he gives you his Kvatch cuirass and the quest finishes. If I know correctly, all Savlian does after the quest is stand in the castle, or in this situation, in front of the castle entrance.

No no, this is a bug where he does not even go into the gate. He does not tell you what to do, and just stands there trying to "charge the courtyard." You need prior knowledge of the quest to complete it without directions from him.
