In response to post #13841188. #13842208 is also a reply to the same post.

I am using darn Ui, strange it didn't show. Maybe my bashed patch turned the esp off or something. When I was using AA I had uninstalled OBGE to see what bloom lighting might look like. So OBGE shouldn't have been an issue at the time. Does this mod not work well without OBGE? Or is it designed to work with OBGE or HDR lighting only? When I had OBGE installed I was using the cell shader + AA shader, however.

I am looking at the AA mod you linked, what is the difference between using it and say, the cell shader + AA that comes with OBGE Standalone? I am using Godrays btw.

i get the 3+ GB size with cell purger only (playable oblivion up to 3.2 GB ram). the "highest" crashing szenario occurred with a 3,5 GB sized oblivion.exe. system: mobile intel i7 3rd gen + 24GB ram. to get this size you need to load an area with the appropiate textures (e.g. elsweyr corinthe or the xul-landscapes). the whole worldspace shoud be higres (RAEVWD, char, sky, clutter, and so on). some ini-settings probably have an impact too (memory preload, ugrid, forcing full lod etc.)

@xrayy
I feel that my question was a bit off topic, but Ive tried what you did suggest and have yet reached more than 2.3gb ram usage. I will have to focus more on pushing the game insteed of questing ;)

the ram crash limit depends on individual hardware, modding and ini-config. and as far as i know the stack-memory-management has quite a lot of optimization-potential ;). so keep on pushing and optimizing!

You cannot use this mod without OBGE and you cannot use OBGE with MSAA due to several conflicts.
The "disappeared ui problem" is a common problem using OBGE with the MSAA. The hud can disappear for several reason (not only by this mod). The hud can disappear on starting or during the game.

The SMAA is the best solution. It's 100% compatible with everything because it's a post process imaging filter and provides the best possibile definition for the imaging (obviously after the MSAA that cannot be used).

So disable every AA filter (ingame, from OBGE or by external tools like the Catalyst Control Center or Nvidia Control Panel) and use the SMAA if you want an AA and no problems.

@astrob0y
If you want to engage a heavy stress test, do this in the ini - backup it!
- set uGridToLoad=9
- set uInterior Cell Buffer=72
- set uExterior Cell Buffer=144
- set iPreloadSizeLimit=104857600
- set uGridDistantTreeRange=30
- set uGridDistantCount=50

Then try 3-4 fast travels in the tamriel map. The video ram will get at full (i have the GTX 560ti 1GB) and the ram will raise up to 3-3,2 GB (the Oblivion process not the machine ram, tha machine ram arrives also at 4-4,5) in one minute of game!! :) Another fast travel and sbadaaaabammmm CRASH! :)
Then try to repeat the test but when the memory is over 3 GB, go into an interior (so you can see the greatest purger effect) and press F12 (if you haven't changed the default hotkey). The video ram is half and the ram return at 2GB.

Oblivion is one of the best games of every time, but a very cpu-intensive game and it's very poor in optimization.
Bethesda thought the mods......but not so many!!!!! ;)

@Alenet,
I did try the setting you suggested and I got up to 3.4gb during loading screen... and then CTD :) Now I know how to make the game sweat. Time to fine tune the setting.

Eheheh :) yeah!!

That configuration works for me but not very stable because it is at the limit (and i notice we have similar hardware). Probably your oblivion has too textures and gets out of memory on loading!!! Wow!! Eheh :)

Now, what does your SMAA mod have to do with All Natural Weather? Do I HAVE to download the optional ini for All Natural? I kinda have my settings where I want them concerning that mod.
