Skyrim has been stuttering for a while. It hasn't done this before and I notice it only when going to Riverwood or Whiterun (the only two places I've been since it started) from the wilderness. Then it stutters for a while after I leave. I have tried changing graphics settings and deactivating texture mods. I've tried limiting FPS and that doesn't work either. Or did you add a bunch of textures (no esps) like the ENB system or realvision? or ELFX ? changing the way shadows and light works can overload sometimes ... WHEN you update a bunch of other texture files. I recently had to lower my gfx settings after installing some new textures. Before that I had to remove some textures (manually!) by going thru directory -directory comparison to see what one added. Removed tons of textures and things improved. I tried using TESV reduced textures mod, deactivating Lights and FX, and reducing graphics settings but it still happens. I've used mods like W.A.T.E.R. and Static Mesh Improvement Mod before without an issue. I have an AMD Radeon HD 6570 1GB video card. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I notice it mainly when loading into a new area and also sometimes during dragon fights. I was going to try capping my fps as the OP did to see if that helps. I was also thinking about getting an SSD (not just for this issue, because it would be good to have anyway) do you think it would make a difference? Any help is appreciated, thanks.
