I AM SPEECHLESS!
You outdid ( i hope thatīs the right word ) yourself!
I always read your storys with great excitement, but this chapter has blown me off my chair.
I was so caught up, that i could see in the last picture how the fog moved and swirled.
Great Jonathan, absolutely great!
Iīm as curious as Lufel, what Grim will do to rescue Wolfgar.

Such exquisite tension you weaved into this chapter, that dark power clouding Grim's mind as he faced the fearful face of Mralki, the fury growing within him as his savage side began to take hold but a voice suddenly stopping him, like a water poured on a flame. Really like how you depicted Astrid's arrogance and her odd pleasure in seeing Grim suffer. Seems Astrid did not know as much about her foe as she should have, a lethal mistake to think Grim would be as easily controlled as Arnbjorn, putting too much fate in the power of Sithis so easily taken away. All those years of prowling the shadows and wielding the blade were for naught as Grim's blade found its mark. Interesting that Meridia would appear to him in that moment after the battle, helping him keep Wolfgar from the shadows that threatened him, seems does not have much time to rush to his aid, I am really intrigued about what will happen next and about the plan his friends have ^^

In response to post #13994523.

So glad you enjoyed this chapter Heidi, I was so hoping you would. I wanted to make it fun, exciting, tense, and full of revelations with over the top high fantasy powers making appearances. To the "divine" beings this is just another trial of Grim as he progresses on the path forward ... to a destination many of the Daedra and Aedra are watching very closely. Yet to Grim it is HIS life and those he cares for. It isn't that they don't care for him but being immortal beings of great power the perception is different.

Anyhow so happy you got caught up in the story and "outdid" is the correct word and a high compliment, thank you for that! Sometimes I wish I had a talent for movie making as I would love to show some of this as a youtube video.

All I can say on Wolfgar is that it won't be a direct line - there will be many twists - and it is unclear what will happen to Wolfgar in the end. Even if he survives it is doubtful he will remain unscathed by the experience.

Thank you kindly for your comment Kami! I sometimes think Meridia us under-rated and she has a rather unique history (somewhat like Malkarth). There is something about Grim that she likes, not to mention twice not Grim has done her a big favor and is often at the forefront of hunting down vampires and other undead. Plus he is her chosen champion against the forces of darkness and the undead ;)

I am not sure how many people picked up on the reference of the other Prince although I know a couple of readers who will figure it out. I like stories where the divine take an active role in the story - very epic fantasy style is what I am going for with Grim.

As for Sithis, it is clear from lore that Astrid broke faith with Sithis and the tenants of the DB. She wanted the glory and power for herself. I try hard to stay close to lore yet add my own twist to the "dreamers" world ... for I am the dreamer of this universe and Grim is my personal avatar in the world. I sometimes wonder what would happen if he achieved CHIM and then AMARANTH .. escaping the dream of the dreamer ...

Anyhow thanks for the comment and hope you enjoy the future chapters!

In response to post #13994023. #13994503 is also a reply to the same post.

Take it from me, nothing wrong with a long chapter and certainly nothing wrong with a great cliff hanger :D hehehe

Wow wow wow!!! So Astrid got what she deserved at last! She should have known better then to mess with Wolfgar! Her game did not play out as she planed, no... not at all!
I only hope that Grim can get to Wolfgar before it's too late!
One question- Was that Sam's voice that appeared in Grim's mind as he was starting to turn??

FANTASTIC work!!!

Many thanks AoK - so glad you enjoyed it! I would say Astrids biggest mistake was over-confidence in her information she had on Grim and ignoring the tenants of the DB. Can't say I was sorry to see her go.

I wasn't sure who (except Nataly) would pick up on that but yes it was. Grim turned him down when he offered to share a drink but said maybe next time ... Sam took that as a rain check to be called in. Hard to do if Grim is removed from the picture. Plus he has a soft spot for him, Erik and Wolfgar. There is another reason as well ... but I can't discuss that right now as it will come up in a special future story I am working on :)

Absolutely fantastic!

You've accurately presented Astrid as I always envisioned her; a sultry, femme fatale with nary a speck of consideration for what is right or wrong but rather what befits her tastes. The syntax she uses in her sentences, her specific lexical field "follow" "obedience" and most of her connotations refer to control and sex. Truly a magnificent presentation of character.

You've also set a very nice situation of internal struggle, between saving two important souls. Whilst he may not be out of the woods, it is proven many forces favours Grim.
I hope that bloody sky is not pathetic fallacy in motion, it truly would frighten me so if it was.

Amazing work, I eagerly await the continuation :D !

In response to post #14001053.

Many thanks for the feedback, I had hoped you would enjoy my presentation of Astrid :-) Nice to know I did that right.

Grim does have a lot of favor but he also has many very powerful enemies (Alduin, Harkon, Mirak, Molag Bal, and many others) so I see this as somewhat of an epic fantasy with big and little powers. In some ways the Princes will cancel each other out. Plus they don't like to interfere to much - it spoils the fun. But if Grim does most of the work himself they will chip in, or hinder, as they see fit. Fenrir is a bit of a wild card but he is a force for the natural order so while he can heal he can't undo death nor would he want to if he could as it is part of life.

Plus I am trying to show that Grim has learned to value the pack, that he is not the lone wolf. Due to his loyalty and courage he has trusted friends and people who owe him so during this trial each has helped out just a little - course some are for their own reasons but overall it shows the strength that can come with the pack.

Thanks again for the feedback and enjoying the story!

Oh Jon, every time I think I have read my favorite from your works you surprise me and the next becomes my new favorite.. I found myself wanting to reach into the screen and rip out that womans heart so many times as Grim suffered at her hands, her words evil, her intent had not bounds, only for her wants and desires...... to use Erik's father against Grim, trying to make him pick between what would have been Erik in the end had Grim killed his father and Wolfgar... and for Sam to be the one to come to him and give him the message what would happen had he allowed his wolf to come out an unexpected turn of events to say the least...but I do remember in one of your stories Sam and Grim having a conversation and it seemed like Sam felt a kinship as Grim is family, and then have Meridia help, Grim is a lucky man that the gods watch over him and his ....

Now with Wolfgar's soul within him, Will Grim be able to save him or will he be to late you have left many questions unanswered... the plot twists this way and that way, as we follow Grim on his quest to save his friend, his brother, his bond mate... I look forward to what comes next and worry about them both... I do hope he can withstand what comes as I do fear it is not even close to be over...

Great awesome, amazing story, with shots that pulled me and kept me on the end of my seat, waiting to see what happened next... the last two shots are EPIC... so amazing... all the shots so great and help to only enhance the story... Great job Jon... cant hardly wait for the next chapter....!!! :)
