tic tac & ctd

After constant CTD i bit the bullet and did a vanilla reinstall as suggested elsewhere in these forums.

I tried to do a comprehensive crash test and all seemed ok, for a while.

The i came across a mountain which wasn't there on all sides. i found the missing pieces hovering over the bridge at the cross roads near honigbrew.

Reminded me of Vivec city (Morrowind). A save and restart and all was ok, until i noticed the word "tic" pop up in TLH corner of the screen. It was there only for second.

I kept playing and a good while later "tac" popped up for a second and was gone.

 

Then the first CTD. Now they are every where. They usually come when moving from one location to another.

Sometimes textures are missing (things are Mauve)? Other times Meshes are missing (things like plants are black voids)? Sometimes both. Again, a save and restart seems to fix that for a while.

But the CTD are making the game un-playable, and i haven't loaded half the MODs that i had before.

 

any help/suggestion appreciated

Gigabyte GTX 560 Ti 1G Vram (I think slightly over clocked at factory)

Windows 7 64 bit

Added a special brawlscript that was missing in previous bsa and caused problems with Vilja not following and odd behaviour from other followers.

The settings for Vilja's sturdiness/vulnerability will now show up correctly.
Minor cosmetic changes; removed a message "tic" that would occasoinally show up ingame, changed some dialog filters (among other things a couple of battle-cries where Vilja mistook a male player for a female one).

 

I would have recommended making sure you have the latest vilja update. However I think it is probably unrelated to the CTD.

I always try to diagnose with turning on all functions of papyrus to examine the logs. There are some pretty nifty tools out there now that can also help. http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/53045/?

Also I try to run tes5edit to see if everything loads before I start a game after updates and boss sorting and apply custom sorting to unrecognized files. Also read any notes boss or loot may have for me.

I should also mention, monitor how much memory skyrim is using. If it's nearing 3.1gb from all the texture mods you have, it will crash going over 3.1gb.

http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50305/? That is also a useful mod to help prevent ctd's that happen after awhile of use, but isn't needed if you are using the 1.7.0 alpha skse.

I am not too sure the exact reason you see mauve/black[blank] textures. It means the texture didn't load and it could be a memory issue or some conflict, but apart from reducing things in your load, it is something that is pretty much only fixed by a restart of the game. I know I have overloaded my game before and had to reduce on something to prevent that from happening. I had a lot of textures, and armor mod's.

Also, simply unchecking mod's doesn't make for a good uninstall, scripts can linger and cause issues. That's why you should try save game script scalpel or other various mod's that have been released to handle scripts.

I do have the latest Vilja version , but i may have screwed something up with the solstheim addon or a different hair style for the lady. I'll look into that.

 

 

texture issues happen at irregular times and they just pop up. They are fine one moment then i turn around and blam, pretty purple or black patches in walls or scenery. Always different items.

I just save the game and shut down to desktop, restart skyrim and load saved game and everything is ok again.

two things:

1. how do you turn on all the papyrus functions?

2. how do you monitor Skyrims memory usage?

Can you please double check that you are using Vilja 3.02? The "tic tac" message was from Vilja 3.00/3.01 and should not appear in 3.02. If you are using NMM, and it's telling you that you are using 3.02, then perhaps the installation wasn't correct. Since you are concerned with the Solstheim add-on and cosmetic patches, I would recommend a complete re-installation:

1 - Take back things you have given Vilja. Save and exit.

2 - Deactivate Vilja and all related esp patches.

3 - Load game and wait 52 ingame hours. Save and exit.

4 - Uninstall Vilja. If using NMM, remove the mod from NMM also.

5 - Re-download and re-install Vilja.

6 - Go through the first part of Vilja's quest

7 - Talk to Vilja "traveling together" -> "off topic - configuration and setting" -> "We have already done (some) of your quests" (this is optional, since you just started a new playthrough, you may not need to go through this and the following step)

8 - Talk to Beata in the Bannered Mare, go through her options carefully, she will allow you to skip ahead Vilja's quests.

9 - re-activate addons and patches for Vilja

 

Regarding CTDs, as WesSeH suggests, I also believe it may be because Skyrim is hitting the memory heap limit. To monitor the use of memory heap, please check out Sheson's memory log (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50471). And adjust your memory heap size by using SSME from the link WesSeH provided.

 

I am not sure what you are asking about turning on all papyrus functions.

I hav no idea either but i am willing to find out if there is something that can help.

 

My NMM says 3.02, but after reading its "readme" i think i might have messed up the solstheim and cosmetic install.

I will follow your advice and reinstall Vilja properly.

 

As for SSME i will have to read more to understand and apply.
