Infinite Loadscreen (on Cell-Change?)

So I've got a problem I just can't fix. My game runs pretty much perfect with about 70 mods, ultra graphics, some ini-tweaks, no framerate problems, no script issues (at least for now since I started a new game) and of course the awesome memory patch.

But while everything works perfectly I've got a huge issue with infinite loading screens. When loading from the main menu, everything loads fine ...while ingame - for example when dying - I can only load the manual saves. Autosaves and quicksaves usually cause an ILS. And this occurs already in the first hour after a new game!

Of course I can play with manual saves (I'm doing it atm, hoping that it keeps working) but there has to be a cause / fix for this? Here's my relevant settings, feel free to ask for more details

I have googled a lot about ini-tweaks and I'm pretty happy with my end performance + visuals but I could imagine the error lies somewhere in there. Help would be immensly appreciated :smile:

There's a reason manual saves might work better. Take drakshdw's advice while testing, at least. The only "fix" I know of is this.

 

If you think it might be ini files, just rename your current ones and start the Skyrim Launcher; it will give you vanilla ini's for testing. Of course, your current save games won't load at ugrids=5. Then again, ugrids=7 is not helping your stability. You might try this mod with ugrids=7 and see what happens.

 

I've "heard" that vram can be involved in ILS problems. Setting your texture quality to Low and turning off AA will reduce vram use while you troubleshoot this.

I'm already playing without auto saves (see SkyrimPrefs.ini), at the moment it's working fine but I can't imagine that this will solve my problem. Thank you for the suggestion, I will try the Cell Stabilizer right now, sounds promising.

Garon's Big 5 stabilty enhancements, in order of effectiveness:

 

1. SSME/SKSE 1.7.0 Alpha/Sheson's memory patch

2. Vanilla ini files (only mod required tweaks)

3. ENBoost

4. Cell Stabilizer (fixes a bug even at ugrids=5)

5. Manual saves only

Played about an hour with manual saves, worked flawless ...but I also didn't die.

 

Then some vampires spawned in Whiterun, I saved right before them, died, and got the infinite loading screen again. I can live with an ILS every hour but I would still rather fix it, there has to be a way ...it seems not to be connected to cell changes so my last guess is that some ini-tweak is causing it but I don't know what to try :/

The ENBSeries author has quite a handle on graphics-related instabilities, and a couple other graphical things. :thumbsup:

 

His software evolved to support, as well as enhance, HD graphics and effects. Although ENBSeries has graphics code fixes that help, in the ENBoost mode you can simply take advantage of his memory and other fixes which contribute to a stable system without impacting graphics or FPS at all. I highly recommend it, even if it was not specifically designed for ILS fixes.

 

BTW, did you try lowering Texture Quality and AA to see if they affected the ILS?

EDIT: Almost forgot... did you remove the wyrmstooth.ini file?

No I didn't delete the wyrmstooth ini file, what does it do? I installed the mod long ago but never got to try it out :S

 

If an esp file has a correspondingly named ini file, it will be used to modify your default ini files when the esp loads. The wyrmstooth.ini changes a few default ini settings to "better" accomodate and display the resources used in Wyrmstooth. The changes are not strictly required and I have seen some discussions that a couple of the Wyrmstooth changes can promote, not necessarily cause, an ILS. You can simply rename it to something like wyrmstooth.outi for testing and restore it if nothing changes.
