Mine too, i was hoping to keep my romance with alistair, now i don't think me and him will be married
and i like romancing characters now it gona be boring

I almost don't want to admit this, but I agree. but yeah....I kinda got hooked on this whole romance in game bit. So thats a bummer, big time.
For you, I can see how it would also be a let-down that Al isnt gonna be around that much in Awakenings.
If it helps any, I guess it didnt work out too well for Oghren either, or he'd still be back at home.
And us guys won't have Leliana or Morrigan to squeeze after a big nasty fight.

I felt the ending and sequel setup was pretty obvious. Bioware created Dragon Age with the intention of having a trilogy and it shows in the planning. Dragon Age "Origins" is called "Origins" for a reason - it is your character's origin story! The story of your future character's father and how you were born.

I feel that the Grey Wardens story will be wrapped up in the expansion. Completely wrapped up, as in happy ending or dead. You will play the godchild in the sequel. A child all grown up of course. Will you be a god? No, i don't think that will be apparent right away. Bioware created a storyline very similar in Baldur's Gate and i feel like they've set up the same here. The next two games will deal with Morrigan's child fighting against the world - be it darkspawn looking to recapture the archdemon's soul or chantry members and grey wardens trying to destroy it. Maybe the archdemon's soul will let you enter the Golden City.. who knows?

The first game was really just a prequel to what is coming. The expansion is just a bonus for those that love their Grey Warden character.

Is it? That remains uncertain. There is no indication of a another NWN story and BW has recently (with ME and the resent expansion) allowed you to transfer your character from the first to the next. If you become Morrigan's kid, chances are that you are human no matter what race you were and that kind of wrecks the type of RPG that BW has made don't you think? It could be set between 2-5 years after Origins.

I think it would be difficult for them to do a direct plot continuation with Morrigan because of how people's playthroughs vary. For example, I have seen two very different endings in my playthrough and neither of them were the one you're describing.

Even on games you turn down Morrigan the final story has her travelling with child.

So I do think the Morrigan child will be apart of the final plot, just it will be apart of DA:O3 as this meant to be a trilogy.

All I hgope for is Part 2 doesnt take away all choices from you and close up multiple storylines like ME2 did.

The strength of these franchises is how you effect your surrounding. As a RPG player I almost lost interest in the ME franchise now cause they already tied up the loose ends so ME3 really only going to be a stand alone game with Reapers. What happened earlier really doesnt matter much.

I hope DA:O franchise learned from those mistakes so the 2nd game develops the first game choices rather then finishes them.

But 99% sure the child will be apart of it all. Might not be your child (they never actually come out and say it is in any play through) but it will be the plot line (or one of them) in future games.

LOL, its for this reason alone I bought the PC version and replaying all my games so I have saved files for expansion and future versions.

I'd imagine if they did this that they would disconnect the story from the father, maybe it would be an easter egg for those who imported their worlds, but i doubt they'd go further than that. They'll probably leave the issue unknown (Morrigan won't talk about it) and leave it up to you to interpret. Any other course would create a lot of work for the developers - too many situations to create. The actions you made in the first game - which side you supported in each quest - will likely be the ones that affect the world 20 years in the future. That is the continuity i believe you'll see.

I can say with absolute certainty that you won't play the same grey warden in the sequel. There is a point where your character has become too powerful to really be challenged by anything. By the end of the expansion this will surely be the case. You've killed an Archdemon and who knows what else? There isn't many other things that could challenge you more.

Not to mention the possibility that you could be dead and replaced by another Warden in the expansion. There is no way they could carry this character through 2 more games. They will need to start over in the sequel. The child is the most intriguing idea. Starting another Grey Warden character in the sequel would be too - same old same old.

Plus there are the Notes of Arl Foreshadow - that you can find in the game.

Yes, the sequel is going to be set around Orlais that is what Foreshadow stated in his notes or it could be another franchise set around Orlais. If it is set 20+ years apart from the last one then it breaks BW new character transfer system they implemented for ME2 and the expansion plus a lot of fans out there will be very disappointed as most of your companions are either have one foot in the grave or dead. Yes expansions always mean that you can use your character but it is just a filler to a bigger, more urgent issue that Flemeth has foreseen. Plus a lot things are left unfinished such as Morrigan and the kid, Flemeth's motivation and the future of the Grey Wardens. If you so choose to chase after Morrigan, the question remains clear; do you find her?

I stated this in another topic about Morrigan's relationship with Flemeth that she is the pinup girl of Dragon Age, BW has more plans for her in the sequel and are unlikely to start afresh with a new team and a new face. Like I said, the sequel is likely to be set closer to the resent Blight than to be far of in the future when everyone in your last team are dead. With ME2 for example, if you maxed out your level and were rich, then you will start around level 5 with around 100 thousand credits. BW is likely going to do the same thing in DA2 and many players would rather have their character from the first rather than cut loose and make a new one. It also expands your interactions with other character and places rather inhibit them. For example revival of a lost relationship. Even if you die chances are that BW wants you alive, Morrigan with kid, Alistair as king and Oghern as general of human forces. A lot of people would agree that far future with a new archdemon is far unlikely and it is more close to resent events.

lol considering the way that Flemeth trained her in the Wilds... I think, the situation would be more of her finding you, if you went after her. Which then raises the question of- is it gonna end up being a fight, or are things gonna get talked out, or a combination of both? Granted, I already agree that they have future plans for both Flemeth and Morrigan, but I'm just wondering which reaction it's going to be, when either of them enters back into the picture.

To Further the conversation of it taking place in Orlaise. I agree there too. The expansion takes place in Orlaise. At the end of DA:O, Morrigan was seen headed for the frostback mountains which also leads to Orlaise. Ferelden has had massive issues with Orlaise and King Cailen was revealed to have been trying to establish a truce with them in the Return to Ostagar DLC. Which also hinted that they had an issue of their own going on, and couldnt send troops to assist against the Blight.
The majority of the Wardens, are also in Orlaise.
I just hope that not all of them have french accents like Leliana. That could get annoying after a while.

Ok, this is just an opinion here, but to me...I think the intention was for Alistaire to end up marrying Anora for the ending. Granted, yes...they don't really like each other all that well, but considering the longstanding relationship between their ancestry, it wouldnt surprise me if Gaider thought about merging the bloodlines.

By the look of things it wouldn't surprise me if they all have French accent and spoke French, after all Orlais is based loosely around France and their feudal system.

I DO find it odd however, that one of the ONLY characters which DIDNT offer to go with you, or offer you to go with them at the end, is the one that shows up in the expansion as a constant companion.

Maybe it is not Alistair as by the sounds of it doing more administration work than being a constant companion. I think that role is going to Oghren. I'm wondering if BW is going to bring Alistair back in the sequel as a companion depending on your gender or not.

I agree with you as Anora is going to make an appearance in the expansion. So is Wynne, Wade, Loghain and Herren, all based on your choices of course.

It just seems a bit vain that the romances you had with a character from origins is severed without any explanation,
I mean i'm fine with that but
you'd think maybe something would be said about it...
Maybe something IS said about previous companions in the expansion,
but it just seems a little weird for me, you know?
