I'm speaking of how in Mass Effect 2 only one squad member from Mass Effect 1 returns as a squad member. Do you think Dragon Age 2 will be like this? I'm guessing it won't be, due to the anger many fans of Mass Effect are feeling due to this.

Well, considering the variety of endings... i mean, you can kill half of your team and leave almost the whole other half to die ye know?. I think the only ones that always ends alive is Morrigan and Oghren (and i hate Oghren).

Presuming they make a DA:2 and not just DLC, I don't think they'd want to feel beholden to having to bring back all your old companions - other than "remember me?" cameos. Plus it would mean having to ensure you could get the same voice actors back or have people endlessly complain that they "cheaped out" on it.

Maybe it was just me, but I didn't really care for any of my companions in Mass Effect anyway, and not many of the choices I made either (Rachni Queen? Well... you bugs had a good run). At least I didn't keep any of my saves, since I don't want to wait for ME:2 to see what the presumably minor consequences are.

The companions in Mass Effect 2 are terrible. Except Tali, of course.

Why spoiler? i only said that it IS possible to get rid of them in violent ways.

if there is going to be a sequel, i think it would be better if all the companions were new

Or most of them anyway, i wouldn't mind your love interest returning (Morrigan or Leliana or Zevran) returning, cameo appearances would be nice too, like Ammon Jerro in Mask of the Betrayer.

Seeing as how bioware can view the percentage of players who play each origin and the accomplishments unlocked I would think its possible that a sequel will simply pick up where DA:O left off for those who have it and start off with a canon start for those who are new. Each of characters would then have a past further building on the story.

There are specific reason's I have for thinking this to be the most likely outcome but posting them would include to many spoilers.
