@xatmos:
I had lost items right before I installed v5b. Right now I had few chests and nothing got broken so it was probably bug of previous version.
If there will be some problems I will post here about it. :)

@KingKyle: So is this like equipment? I didn't know the game did this. My mod is not intentionally "damaging" items. It removes some items and tells you they were "lost". The game must automaticly "damage" equipment when its container is "destroyed" .. I'll have to find a locked chest with some equipment in it to test. But, I should be able to fix this no problem.

Edit: Yup the game automatically "damages" equipment in broken chests, didn't know that. Anyway, I fixed it in v5c - you should no longer find damaged items in chests.

This damaged feature is kind of cool actually. It would be neat to add repair hammers or blacksmiths to the game.

This mod should really make any Essential Mod list. Thanks!

Heh, I was about to report that the mod was 'damaging' equipment obtained from bashed chests (even with destroy chance set to 'NONE'), but I see it's already been reported and fixed. I'll just grab the newest version then.

Bashing should just depend on Strenght, Magic for Mages (well, rather still Dexterity) and Dexterity for Rogues should only lower the main condition that should be just Strenght.
I would also reconsider dividing module into three - for mages, rogues and warriors separately.

@Cgma: Why would strength matter for mages at all? Virtually all mages will be bashing using a staff, which means a magic projectile.

I did consider making rogues use strength, since in some ways it makes more sense, but dexterity can make sense too and it adds some flavor. Maybe I will add options to make it customizable because there will never be a consensus.

Edit: Rogues should not be as good as warriors (or mages) at bashing (or combusting) open chests. A rogue should have the proper skills to pick the lock properly. If your pc is a rogue and you come across a chest that is beyond your skill to pick and too sturdy to bash, well maybe you switch to Sten or Oghren or Alistair or Shale, to utilize their brute force - or Morrigan or Wynne to utilize their arcane powers. This mod is meant to be played with Item Breakage enabled, so rogues who can properly open chests still maintain an advantage. /end edit

As to your second point. Do you mean make enabling each class optional? That makes sense, I'll add ini settings to enable each classs.

Still want to say its a great mod and my last comment was not a bash at all on it. Just seems that the whole concept might have been meant to be in the game at the start and was cut for some odd reason. I have noticed that if you have a damaged item in your inventory and you speak to Sandal at the camp to enchant something that item also shows up in the list even though it doesnt have any slots, so it might have meant that they could be fixed by a smith or somebody in the original concept.

Well, bashing means bashing, right? To open with magic mages should use a spell not bashing (there is such a module). You just use weapon with force not incantating spell (magic) nor hack the lock with dexterity. This way you are doubling another abilities. "I don't have enough dexterity to pick a lock but i can bash with dexterity"...? This doesn't make sense I believe. It's better "If you are strong anough you can bash the chest or destroy it to get inside" (with a little help from magic or dexterity).

@Cgma: "I don't have enough dexterity to pick a lock but i can bash with dexterity" -- Picking locks uses cunning not dexterity. So its not a doubling up. Also, the default settings for the mod include item breakage, which gives an advantage to rogues that spec for lock picking.

Mages dont need any spells to attack with a staff and their damage is based on their magic stat not strength. When they bash a chest its the same as attacking it with their staff.

Look, I'm totally open to ideas and suggestions, but you have not convinced me that strength should be the sole or main stat used for bashing.

I can't give my thumbs up now (3 hr wait) but I will. The only thing I would ask for is to remove the "insufficient skill" text. I just hate when people tell me I can't do something.

bottom line - thanks for the work you put into this. It made the game more enjoyable for me. Even though I know I'm only getting a plant in that locked chest, I still have to have it.
