Recently, i and my friend spotted one thing i Oblivion. Regardless your stealth skills, anyone can see you even from great distances ( especially in the cities) we'll have a idea for this. What if someone created a mod, where every npc (of course player too ;p ) have a auto chameleon based on stealth skill level ? For example, for apprentice you'll have auto chameleon (i thought about uncappers, 5% and for level 200+ you'll get auto chameleon 100%) of course only during sneaking. That'll be quite a challenge, i think

While I don't know of a mod that does exactly this, there is Sneaking Detection Recalibrated, which is an amazing stealth overhaul which includes a feature which makes sneaking npcs and the pc more or less invisible depending on a number of factors. This mod is absolutely amazing...also I think there is an actor fade option in the options menu...if you merely think you are seeing people from too far away...

 

Of course, most mods that deal with chameleon are focused on preventing 100% chameleon, as most people find this exploit to be enormously unbalancing.

 

I don't know much about scripting, but I honestly don't think it would be too difficult, given what modders have already done. It would really just be a case of adding a single script (I think) that only kicks in when sneaking, references your sneak skill and applies an already existing magic effect.

Hmm...I've been thinking about the best way to start learning to script for Oblivion - while I have no interest in such a mod myself, it might be a decent place to start - something I haven't seen (in this exact form) before but seems relatively simple.
