Lester Lute: No hard feelings for you petnaming me as a fanboy..
Just like to point out that persons who say they HATE a program, is eighter very young and does not know mutch of life yet, - or they are a bit shortgifted in mind. Persons who is both of these things is not to be taken in consideration..
Your tirade has not changed this "fanboy's" opinion thou': 10/10 still!

It is not whether I love or hate MicroSoft, but I would like to make a
comment on .NET and related.

Hurmpth (throat clear)...

It seems that every time I turn around there seems to be some "addin" like
macro-media-this or java-video-player-that which seems to be someone's
favorite to use.

I find it hard to download and install huge libraries that occupy drive space, slow the operationg system, and make it even more vulnerable that it
already is.

This is really true for utility programs that are only a fraction of the size of
the library it takes to run it. Often, the utility doesn't even use the features
of this library/driver except to require it exists.

The only way around this problem is to not use these programs.

Factually, I like the "idea" of this program. I would like to "try" it out to
see if it is useful for me. Would I spend my time to download .NET and
try this program considering I may have to remove both if I don't like
it?

No.

AT the start, I was a bit disinclined to go for .NET, but, in the end I decided that OBMM is so good it is worth it.

Since I did that, I have not looked back. When I first added some texture replacers (pre OBMM) he only way I could go back to the "vanilla" Oblivion, or even using an updated texture, was by uninstalling the game, wiping every game save I had to that time and starting completely fresh.

With OBMM I can try anything out knowing that I will not blow my game, and I have had no problems at all with it or, come to that, .NET

Recommended wholeheartedly.

For some reason, after I combined several mods, when activated, all the modifications dissapeared.

Warning when I updated I lost significant saved data? group names are there but not the associations, all the omods became unassociated from thier data and esps? I will be spending hours fixing this mess. Using the save manager will be some help but I had converted all my replacers, plugins and UI's to omods. Some ESP's are not named to be easily found in the OMODs. Be carful.
