In response to post #16194705.

OBMM uses OMOD, which are basically packages compressed in 7z format. The compression/decompression is what takes the most time. Also, it looks for conflicts with previously installed mods as it installs things, and stuff like that. Some mods include install scripts that check what DLCs and mods you have installed, or otherwise let you pre-configure options and arrange the files from the package to fit the game folder structure, and that also takes more time than pasting files manually. Moreover, the more mods you have, the more time its UI will take to update the changes and even to load on startup of the program.

I bet there's a handful of other more technical reasons involved, but that should help you understand why installing through OBMM takes more time than manually.

Is it better to mod the game with an already existing character, or to start a new game after u installed all the mods, because not all installed mods seem to work with my new character or arent loading at all, even though they worked perfectly fine on my existing character... I cant even see wich files and mods are activating on the top left corner with my new character. I always saw that when i started the game witch my existing character? Thanks for any help!!

I need a little bit of help installing this mod manager. It keeps telling me that it must be put into "Oblivions installation directory" and i am not sure of what this means. Any help would be appreciated.

In response to post #16632339.

When you choose the install location, the setup automatically make a "New Folder". Delete "/New Folder" and you should be good. Worked for me.

New user to this mod
I use NMM for most of the games like fallout games and skyrim
so I know how to install mods without a manger and with one.

but I see most people are using this mod manger for this game so I will to.

Just wanted to ask what's a good video on youtube
to learn how to use this for a first time user like myself.

In response to post #16770759.

Many mods for Oblivion is packaged in away that NMM dosent like. So this is how its done and to make NMM understand the format. I will use the excellent overhaul "Oscuro's Oblivion Overhaul 1.35" as an example:
a) First manually download OOO (and the optionals that you want).
b) Create a folder called "data".
c) Unzip evertyhing from OOO into data. It should look like this for example: "/data/texture", "/data/meshes" and "/data/ Oscuro's_Oblivion_Overhaul.bsa"
d) zip/rar the data folder. Name it to OOO 1.35.rar
e) open up NMM and select "add mode from file"
f) activate the file.
g) archive invalidation (its under the toolbox)

Remember that some mods needs Wrye bash to work ;)
