I cleaned out my data folder, placed everything in the right spot, and still get an invisible texture.

really?, shoot.
are you using version 1.02?

also, if your oblivion isn't in the default directory, your gonna have problems.
if you know how to edit .nif files you can fix it for yourself.

open up the nif file with nifskope, and find the location of the texture, then right click, select choose, and browse to the femaleupperbody.dds.
then save the file

My hd is labeled as F://

I will try it, although I have no experience in texturing/modding/changing/whatevering

ok, well i had my friend test it out on his comp, it worked fine for him.

so, all i can do to help is ask you if your oblivion is installed to the default of c:\program files\bethesda softworks\oblivion

bonebrew, for your reference Beth has been using relative texture paths in their nifs (relative to Data) .. so if you use nifskope and change the texture to "textures/characters/imperial/female/upperbodyfemale.dds" that will do the trick and fix it once and for all for all your users

also .. what is the purpose of ArchiveInvalidation.txt? I've had the exact same effects with that file in place or without it it would seem. (does it have anything to do with the absolute texture paths in the nif? .. if so the above would remove the need for it too)
