You speak the truth. I have had a bit of modding experience in both oblivion and skyrim, and I found oblivion much easier to work with. And as for the bleakness of skyrim, I found that to be the undoing of it. It can definitely be argued that the combat is better in Skyrim, and it can be argued that there are more quests, but it cannot be argued that it is interesting. The entire place is one big bore! Oblivion has a much more diverse landscape.
But then again, I am biased. I grew up with oblivion. I dare not even think of how many hours I have sunk into it, and I still find it fun! And I am always overjoyed to see such a talented modder return to Oblivion. I hope that you will continue to make great mods!
P.S. I love Douglas. He is the perfect pony for me, and having a pack pony in the early stages of the Shivering Isles is well appreciated. Thanks again for this mod.

Thank you
. Actually, some of them *do* exist in real life! My daughter and I have known Inge, Bob and Douglas for several years, and in particular Inge has eagerly been trying to stomp on my feet and make my daughter fall off the saddle. (Inge is a male name in Sweden, btw, so Inge is supposed to be a he and would probably feel very insulted if anyone thought he was a she...).

Gorgeous ponies - and the apple / carrot behaviour is SO "Thelwell"
I can just imagine a string of ponies, and companions on them ...

I don't really use ponies but these look awesome, combine it with your packdonkeys and farm animals mod and they are great for roleplaying. Have you thought of making some "children of Cyrodiil" mod or something similar? it would be lovely to pretend that the ponies belong to my kids

Thank you, thank you, thank you, you just made me SO happy!!!
Guess I have to explain this outburst...
When I was a kid, I LOVED horses and I LOVED the Thelwell pictures, but I never knew the name of the artist. Later in life, when my daughter started to get interested in horses, I searched all over the net to find the pictures I loved so much when I was a child, but I couldn't find them anywhere, as I didn't know what to search for.
So when I found your picture, and the name of the artist on top of that... well, it was pure happiness, and I have already spent hours browsing Thelwell pictures on the net
.
Btw, if you put an apple or carrot on the ground (instead of using the messagebox to reward your pony), there is a good chance that the pony will eat it directly from the ground.
Oh, and in regards to companions and ponies - There already exist an optional file for Vilja (by Lycanthrops) that changes her horse Bruse into a very unique pony. Pony Bruse
If you want other companions to ride the ponies, use the Companion Horse Support mod

Thank you
Children of Cyrodiil... Hmm... maybe this IS the time to mention something I have been thinking about for a while now.
You see, in my Oblivion game, there are already more than 50 fully voiced and scheduled children running around in the towns and cities, playing games, dancing dances, running home to their parents for dinner, and of course also riding ponies. I started on this mod back in 2010, but I felt so discouraged by all the hardcore porn mods out there so I never wanted to release them publically. It has been known on Bethesda's boards that this mod exists, and I have ever so often been giving people access to it on an individual basis.
But, lately I have been thinking that the Oblivion community must have grown so mature by now that maybe the kids could actually be released. But I still wouldn't want to put them on a major downloadsite like Nexus; I would much rather do like with the Children of Morrowind mod, which is only available from my own web-site, http://lovkullen.net/Emma/index.htm.
I still have to ponder on this a little, and there are things in the mod that would have to be fixed up (thorough TES4Edit cleaning for instance), but if there is an interest for this, it wouldn't be impossible to make it ready say before the summer is over.
Oh, this is Adriane and Jelinda Doran in Chorrol, btw.
As for roleplaying mods, I'd say that apart from the ones you mention, I would also grab my mod Give a Gift and one of my housemods that have full crafting facilities and optional sheep, like Aleswell Cottage, Red Rose Manor, Lakeside home, Longbridge Cottage or Waterlily Cottage. (Personally, I would have course also add Vilja to the list, and use a house that has an add-on for her. And I would add a range of roleplaying mods by other authors, too, of course)

You are more than welcome. Thelwell was a master of the equine expression in caricature, and even wrote a book on exactly how he created the ponies, for the wannabe artist. If you hunt them down there are ceramic miniature Thelwell-style ponies about too - we have a few.
In my opinion, you have managed to do for ponies what AlienSlof did for the big horses - make them "real" in the game. a great mod.
I know we can feed them apples and carrots - maybe nosebags and oats too?
Oh, and if you ever add another pony, can I (on behalf of Lord of the Rings fans) request that you call it "Bill" please?

May I second the request for a "Children of Cyrodiil" mod? Even though I tend to avoid "companion" mods like the plague 9my characters tend to be total loners), the realistic feel of children running around / heading for school / having to be rescued from caves / whatever adds a whole new roleplay element to the game.

I also would like to see children in Cyrodill, and I believe there's a lot of people who would. Even if they don't do much. Even if I couldn't interact with them in any way I would still consider their mere presence a fix in terms of immersion. It's one of the major lacks in this game after all. Even games with less roleplaying elements than this one include children often.
