WIP Elf Children

Edit: This topic should probably be renamed to "Skyrim Children Overhaul" as its scope has expanded from the original premise.

So I noticed that there weren't any decent lore friendly mods that added elven children. As I've dabbled in altering .tri's before, I decided to see if it was possible to do anything with the child head. I extracted the nifs and .tri for the child head, duplicated the .tri and renamed it. I then started making morphs for the different races. Cut to twenty hours of work later, and this is where I'm at.

Anyway, some pics.

They do have nose morphs, can alter the chin length/width as well as the brow and cheeks. There are a few eye morphs as well. Not going to do any for making the eyes higher/wider or the mouth because I feel that I would run into too many problems.

Currently when the Orc's talk, there are some issues with the mouth clipping through the face. I'm going to try and fix that. As of now I don't know when I'm going to release this, but it'll probably be soon.

Looks like a pretty awesome! I hope you manage to complete this mod because children of other races would be great. To this day i'm still not sure as to why their aren't any elf children in Skyrim. I mean it seems like the Orc Strongholds and The Grey Quarter in Windhelm would be places you would expect children.

The reason there aren't, and why the vanilla children didn't have any morphs was due to one of two things (IMO). Bethesda either ran out of time or it was plain and simple laziness. I hope it was because they wanted to hit that 11/11/11 deadline and decided that it just didn't make the cut, not because they thought the copy/paste children were simply "good enough".

Still, I'm hoping some Dunmer kids running through the Greyquarter, and having some in the strongholds will add a bit more life.

Things I need to do.

1. Make the Altmer children taller

2. smooth the back of the Orc's head, because it's a little pointy.

3. Fix the orc mouth

4. refine the nose morphs I have.

5. maybe add a few more eye morphs. (these are hard to do because I don't have any way to conformulate it (is that even a word?). I add an eye morph to the eye chargen, then have to try and match it in the face chargen.)

6. Refine the textures. I made them too dark. (vanilla child texture, just with a lot of the colour removed and darkened)

7. Maybe add more hair. I had to reshape the heads quite a lot to get the hair to match (hair itself is resized) That is where the bulk of the time on this mod has gone so far.

8. make plugins for Dragonborn, and Hearthfire.

Got quite a bit of work ahead. But the initial stages are done.

Okay, small update showing off more of the current hair selections, face morphs and such.

Elf Hair selections M/F probably not final.

And small morph showcase.

Eye morphs are a little skewed atm. Going to fix them before even thinking of adding more.

That's all for now. I'll try to keep this updated for those that are interested.

Looks nice. Only thing I don't like is the dunmer's eyes. Shouldn't they be red?

Don't worry about the eye colours, they use vanilla eye paths. I just use a mod which changes the eyes. They're still red, just not with as much saturation.

So, wanted to show some morphs as gifs. This will be the last update till I've got some significant work done on it.

Also say hello to Mao, the Sea Elf. I know they aren't in Skyrim, but it's something I thought would be cool. Based on the ones seen in ESO.

Tried to do wide and narrow eyes, but couldn't get it to look right. When I'm done, hopefully I'll be able to make them look somewhat like their parents using the morphs. I'm still figuring out which elves I think could do with offspring.

Current morphs include:

Brow

1. Up/Down

2. Wide/Narrow

3. Forward/Back

Chin

4. Wide/Narrow

5. Tall/Short

6. Forward/backward (Overbite/Underbite)

Cheekbone

7. Up/Down

8. Wide/Narrow (bit extreme at the moment on width.)

Nose

9. 31 nose morphs (9 are Orc)

10. Long/Short

11. High/Low

Mouth

12. 21 mouth morphs

13. High/Low

14. Mouth depth (mouth needs work on the Orc child)

Jaw

15. Height

16. Width

17. Depth

Eyes. (Starting again with different type morphs)

18. Height

19. Depth

(No width)

I might expand this into the human children races, give them all unique morphs, and actually try and make Braith look like an actual Redguard instead of a tanned Nord.
