A split-off topic from the main suggestions topic, because the discussion seems quite lively. :) I will likely not personally take part in this discussion, but axonis will send me the final results of your discussion as a compact list and then I will decide which suggestions to follow. :)

EDIT: To support your quest of epic wording, I have compiled a list of all spells you can obtain when taking a magic perk. I hope it helps you! Please note that this file is hosted on Bitbucket, which will have several hours maintenance downtime today (June 14th) at 10:00 PDT. It might therefore be temporarily unavailable.

Well, short vote from me: get rid of those rank spells especially the confusing ones that may target yourself, or another npc (healing aura for example).
because when chosing perks and the spell window pops up I had to save before that and reload to make sure I got spells that I can put to use and not some strange NPC buffs.

Potions, poisons and ingredients: keep em, they're fine as they are now.

EDIT: Ignore this, I have overlooked a major issue.

Proposal for poisons:

Poison of Affliction > Poison
Poison of Decay > Lingering Poison

Poison of Enervation > Poison of Stamina Drain
Poison of Effetness > Lingering Poison of Stamina Drain
Poison of Exhaustion > Poison of Stunted Stamina

Poison of Arcane Disruption > Poison of Weakness to Magic
Poison of Electrolysis > Poison of Weakness to Shock
Poison of Kryolysis > Poison of Weakness to Frost
Poison of Pyrolysis > Poison of Weakness to Fire

Poison of Fear > no change
Poison of Fury > no change
Poison of Paralysis > no change

Poison of Spellbane > Poison of Magicka Drain
Poison of Spellfade > Lingering Poison of Magicka Drain
Poison of Spellfreeze > Poison of Stunted Magicka

"Stunted" is a term used in earlier TES games. It is a useful alternative to a name that would otherwise contain "Damage x Regeneration" and be too long.

In response to post #15592605.

I have a few remarks after reading the initial discussion in the suggestions topic:

1. I am not particularly fond of ranked spell names, I think orderings like "X" and "Greater X" are better suited in times of SkyUI.
2. Please avoid too technical spell names like "Gradual Healing" or "Standing Magic Light". While they are quite clear about the effect of the spell, their names do not sound very immersive.
3. Try to avoid names in spells, because adding names from (fictional) prominent wizards to the spell names creates a lore hole. Who are those guys, why are/were they so important that spells are named after them? ... So either you take the time to provide some lore about them, like writing a complete commonly available ingame book about them, or you just refrain from using them.

In response to post #15595060.

"Poison of " is a universal prefix to all poisons. The final name of the brew is determined by its most powerful effect. Names like "Lingering poison of Magicka Drain" are therefore not viable.

You mean it's a game engine limitation or you'd prefer that poisons start with "poison" ?

Here is an example:

In response to post #15595665.

My comment only applies to self-brewn potions and potions, not pre-defined ones. :)

p.s. you saw the link in the sticky post?

Yes, you are right. Pre-made potions should follow the same norms with self-made ones. I'll post the changes later.

Thanks for pointing at the spell lists, I had missed it and it will definitely make things easier.

In response to post #15596570.

Just in case you find something in this list that does not match your ingame experience: The data is taken from a very recent 1.8 build. :)
