Heh.. I was thinking about requesting a mod like this somewhere :D Thnak you very much!
If I can add my little opinion, if you add new equipment to the character, then for the robe I would say, that something like the Chasind Robe would be a appropriate, only in other colors. More green maybe... The fancy golden robe of Merrill is just.. well :S too much for a wandering tribe.

Oh and somehow please add a staff, I just can't make myself to take Merrill's :D

Well yeah :D Thanks again!

Nice mod, but as someone has already pointed out, "Adopted" already does this and more. If you do manage to make additional tweaks to dialogue and cut-scenes in order to accommodate and flesh out the Dalish Mage further, I think it would be well worth the effort!

In this case less seems more. Because a dwarven mage is... well... :)

Unlike the Adopted, this mod is atleast lore-correct, and a different and well balanced starting equipment will make it even better.

Im looking at this and considering it. And in reguards to adopted, while it allows you to be any race, any class, any background, it does leave something to be desired considering the lore in DA:O doesn't nessicarly allow an elf to be adopted by a noble human house.

It just seems out of place.

I'll let you know what issues I run into, it only takes me a day or so to burn through a play-through.

I've uploaded Version 2:
- Changed the default names to those of a dalish elf.
- Replaced the starting Apprentice Robe with a Chasind Robe.
- Added a bow to avoid visual awkwardness during the intro cutscene.
- Made sure you also start with a staff and some lyrium potions.

===============================================

The more I'm playing around with this mod the more ideas I get for how the dialogue could be changed to better tell the background story. But I'm the kind of person that can get very annoyed when suddenly a line is spoken without a voice, so if I am to add/change the dialogue I wanna add voices aswell. Mainly re-using the existing files, with a little bit of editing to put it all together.

I found a program to extract the .fsb files and it works perfectly. The only problem is I cannot seem to find the files which contain all the dialogue voice over. All I could find were the SoundSet files. Does anybody know where the dialogue/cutscene voice files are located? :unsure:

===============================================

As for the "Adopted" discussion, as previously mentioned it obviously allows for far more combinations. Which is how that mod is intended, to allow any combination of race, class and background. Whereas my mod merely seeks to correct something that, in my eyes, makes no sense. You come across plenty of dalish mages and yet you were stuck with being a warrior or rogue?

===============================================

akihirokytori: Thanks, it's always good to see if others aren't experiencing problems either. I've been playing a dalish mage for a while now (almost done with the campaign) and apart from the mentioned dialogue mixups I never ran into anything that broke the game. :)

What I would love to see is a version of this where origin-specific events that check for wizard class rather than magi origin would be corrected, so there are no weird dialogue issues. A fix, to say the least.

keep up the good work!

sorron Yes I'd like that too, but it is more than just changing those conditions since not all of the mage dialogue is circle related. So that would mean going over each and every situation by hand and adjust the conditions accordingly. Possible, yes, but inpracticle and messy IMO. *shrug*

Maybe something for in the future.

Good news everybody, I've finally found the voice files (no idea how I could have overlooked them in the first place though). And I've begun making a 'mage-version' of all the dialogue and gameplay. The basic idea is to switch Fenarel and Merrill as primary companion. I've finished most parts of the dialogue changed structure. I'd love to make sure all the new dialogue has proper voices so I may have to get creative here and there (with regards to re-using existing voices).

But that is of later concern, first is making sure everything works like it should. Then comes the tweaking of the dialogue and perhaps altering a few cutscene moments depending on how things turn out.

So stay tuned! :)

Truly great idea and this mod really makes sense lore wise. I'd love to start as a keeper aprentice. Would be a great addition to Dragon age.. I'm waiting eagerly more polished version of this mod. Keep up the great work! :)

I really love the idea, I often wondered why an elven mage couldn't be a Dalish elf considering in the mage origin it's mentioned that the Dalish have magic. And it makes sense that your character would be a mage considering your father was the Keeper before Marathari.

Anyway, I wish I could download this mod but my computer keeps telling me I'm missing some file that's preventing it from working so that sucks. But I was wondering if maybe you could somehow combine this mod with one that gives your character elven ears like all the other NPCs instead of the flat ones you have? I've been meaning to get a mod that does that also, so it would really help me out once I figure out how to get this mod.

Thanks!
