Me too. Tried everything I can think of (patches, load order, deactivating other child-related mods etc. etc.). Shame, as I hate the look of the vanilla kids... :(

Have you considered making a version with only vanilla style hair? I have noticed there are several hair styles from both the vanilla game and the "Lovely hairstyles" pack that look really great, but the others can feel a bit out of place imo.

Try loading just the main file. No patches or clothing or hair or anything else for them. Run LOOT to order your mods. Remove any patches you have for vanilla kids, unless they are a child follower mod of some type.

I'm going to have to disagree about using LOOT. For one, it places USKP at the top of the load order when this mod is supposed to be above it. Even worse is the fact that I tried it over BOSS and whatever it did to my load order has made my game CTD at the title screen even when I turn this mod off (I was getting the same CTD as SkeletalKittenz, but if I turned off this mod it fixed the problem until I used LOOT). Oh well, I've got a few hours of load order rearrangement ahead of me I guess.

BOSS is out of date. LOOT replaced BOSS a while ago. I'm looking at RS Children to see where in my load order it is... Ok, LOOT put RSkyrimChildren.esm right after my USKP esp files (the general rule has always been to load USKP files first before any other mods). My various patches for RS Children are below the mods they patch obviously. Mods that don't have an RSC patch will just use vanilla kids still (populated cities and lands mod).

RSC's been working great for me with 200+ other mods installed. I used to use TK Children. But have since gone with this kid mod. See one of my videos for a list of mods used.

I use Books of Skyrim and I load the patch right after - no issues. I've not nearly as many mods as you, though we share some of the same. I do my load ordering manually via a tutorial I found online. LOOT and BOSS both screwed up my game's load order really badly, so no more third-party programs for me.

I group my mods together by type via the tutorial I found and it's never failed me yet. You can find it here: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/753253-only-you-can-prevent-forest-fires/

I am getting an issue where the child races have huge neck gaps. Also, their heads seem to be the same size (too small) regardless of whether I have selected the bigger heads option or not. Has anyone experienced the same issue or have any solutions?

Fixed it!!! Was a lot more simple than I though. I had a clash with a children's clothing mod which kept the vanilla bodies but the rs head and neck

Thats a really good guide, its what I do. BOSS and LOOT suck. One thing she was not clear on, is the CTD for missing masters, load order does play a part in a CTD even if you have the master loaded. But you are loading the Master file that a mod is calling on AFTER that mod is already being called upon.

Example would be AOS2_WetandCold Patch.esp requires WetandCold.esp to be loaded, not only does it require it to be loaded, but it wants it loaded Before it, or it will throw a hissy and game crashes on start. (I dont know offhand if that Patch is masterd to WetandCold, just an example)

Which brings me to this: ( see akparkison)
@ SilentGuardian98 - Place RSChildren_PatchBooksofSkyrim.esp after Book Covers Skyrim.esp Let us know if that fixes it. Also, if you could paste your load order on Pastebin.com and just paste the link on the comments here that would help people navigate through the page.

You can get LOOT at http://loot.github.io/

LOOT fixes just mod load orders for Skyrim. You still need to make sure you have the right mods and patches for them installed first. And make sure you set up 512MB of RAM for the game as well. Because 200+ mods easily crosses the 256MB limit.
