There's a known bug with alchemy where it keeps prompting "You need to type in a name", even if a name is displayed for the potion.

Unfortunately the only workaround I've seen is not very effective at all. Has anybody else come across this and got a better solution?

I'm pretty sure that the Morrowind Code Patch fixes this.

I'm pretty sure that the Morrowind Code Patch fixes this.

I've got the Unofficial Morrowind Patch 1.65b and the Morrowind Code Patch installed, and it doesn't seem to be helping.

[EDIT] It appears that uninstalling, then reinstalling, the Morrowind Code Patch fixed the problem. I can only assume a) there was some problem with the initial installation or b) one of the other utilities / plugins I installed had interfered with the Code Patch installation.
