I've been working on this for months now.  I've narrowed my mod list down far more than I've ever wanted to.  I've followed STEP guides (STEP/REGS/MMO) as best as a could (w/ some omissions due to a weak computer, some due to personal taste), but seeing as how I'm not and cannot follow them to the exact letter, their compatibility patches aren't suited for me.  I keep trying new load orders, enabling and disabling mods in small batches.  I make TES5Edit merge patches & bashed patches for every build at the expense of the majority of my free time.

After all this, I'm still getting CTDs in exteriors, CTDs on dying & reloading, frozen load screens, infinite load screens, not to mention migraines.  Apparently load screen problems are due to asking the engine to load up too much at once, but I feel that I've pared back so much that the load should be light enough for my modest rig.  I've cleaned all my mods (except Skyrim.esm/unofficial patches) and I've used both BOSS & LOOT to order them.  I've tried looking at mods in small groups and all together in TES5Edit, and with all kinds of filters, but due to a lack of resources it's nearly all Greek to me.  I just feel like it shouldn't be this hard.

Can anyone offer some assistance?  Most of my mods are mainstream, tried-and-true mods; I feel like I'm only using a few obscure mods.  I checked today and they're all up to date.  Here's my current modlist:

Here's a breakdown of my merged mods:

As for what's not included in the load order, there's not much (at least nothing of the same magnitude as the aMidianBorn pack):

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  If any more information is needed I'll be happy to supply it.

I've started troubleshooting by making circuits of the cities.  Here are the problem areas I've discovered so far:

CTD's mid- Falkreath

FLS/ILS loading a save outside Falkreath

CTD's outside Windhelm

ILS loading a save outside Windhelm (near the hunter's camp)

FLS/ILS leaving Riften

FLS/ILS leaving Markarth

FLS/ILS loading a save outside Markarth

CTD near Winterhold, coming from Windhelm

ILS using the carriage

Freeze outside Solitude

ILS loading a save well outside Solitude

It looks like you don't use the Sheson memory patch.

Here the link:

For more information and how to install check this video:

I was under the impression that it was included in SKSE v1.7.0.  I use SKSE 1.7.1 and ENBoost.

Did you make sure to add these lines to your skse.ini?

[Memory]
DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=768
ScrapHeapSizeMB=256

You have to add these or it wont be of any use.

Hmm.  I know I did at one point, but I've tried a lot of crazy troubleshooting since then.  Where is the SKSE.ini file located?  I don't see a "skse.ini" in the skyrim folder, nor in the SKSE .7zip.

So it confirms that you didn't install correctly the Sheson memory patch, the installation process is explained at the end of the video I linked above.

If you use SKSE 1.7.1, you Have to create a SKSE.ini by yourself, in the current folder :

steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\Data\SKSE

Again, watch the video.

This.  I checked there and found the .ini.  Here are it's contents:

Spoiler

Per the video I changed the first value to 768.  Testing nao.

Testing Results:

1) Loaded game outside of Riften, went in and out of Riften, ran super-speed to Windhelm and didn't crash on the bridge lookking out over the Argonian shacks, ran towards Winterhold and CTD'd.

2) Loaded game outside of Falkreath, ran through the middle of town a few times, ran out of town a ways and back through it, took a carriage to Solitude, and CTD'd during the carriage's loadscreen to Windhelm.

3) Loaded game inside Riverwood, ran SE across the river towards Anise's Cabin and CTD'd.

While increasing the size of the first memory block has helped, it's not the solution I was looking for, nor was I expecting it to be.  Things looked fine in the Memory Blocks Log and in Skyrim Performance Monitor; i.e. while my system is meager, I didn't seem to be experiencing any related problems.

INI tweaks are imperative for stability. Try this IN tweak: http://www.nexusmods...im/mods/51033/?
