Hopeless13
Once I started playing I had skyrim folder (steam version) on a custom path, and Nexus Mod Manager, BOSS and TSEE worked well.Today I moved the game in the defaut steam folder (on SSD, for loading times). I was able to fix Nexus, but BOSS gives me error when I launch it. I tried to unistall/reinstall/reboot/stuff but can't figure out.I can't find any .ini or settings file that allows me to change the folder.I think this happens because BOSS picks the steam's installation folder (the one I changed in a horrible way). Now, when i lauch skyrim through steam gives me error. But what I really need is BOSS.What to do?Thank you and sorry for my english, I'm italian :)
Xelan255
Of course your programs can't find your Skyrim anymore. Except the NMM they are all asking the windows registry to know where the executable is located and since you just moved the directory thats just not where Skyrim is anymore. To fix that, make a backup of your saves (just to be sure), go in steam to skyrim and "delete local content". That will erase the registry data of your old skyrim location. After that you install it again via steam, giving steam the location where your Skyrim is actually located. Steam will discover that the files are already there, write the new location in the registry and finish the setup in no time. After that everything should be working again.Depending on what you've done in your skyrim folder (mods replacing vanilla stuff) it may be possible that steam detects that there are some files missing or "corrupted" and replace them again with the original files. If thats the case you have to reinstall those replacer mods.
Verschleiert1
Would you do that, Xelan255, if you had - say 200mods+ - installed? There is another way - allowing you to keep all your stuff. I will not go too much into detail here but i'll be giving you directions help you solve your issue, Hopeless13.1. Go into your windows registry by clicking on your Windows Start Button and enter the following into the search window: regedit.exe Use the key combination ctrl+f to open a search-window and type "skyrim" (without quotation marks). Click on "next" (if necessary [for me it is the 1. entry found]) until you see the orphaned path of your tesv.exe on the right of your screen (example: C:\Program Files > Steam > Steamapps > Common > Skyrim >tesv.exe) make a double-left-click on the entry "tesv.exe" and set the appropriate path to your new skyrim tesv.exe location. 2. After you've done that - take the easiest of 3 possible ways. Deinstall BOSS - Reinstall BOSS and not only will find BOSS your gamepath again - steam will too. ;)
Xelan255
I would, and I did  ok, 100+, but still and because of something else. And very few of my mods use loose files, in general most mods do so, so everything I would have to do is cleaning the dlcs, again >,<I thought of that too, but I don't like to recommend someone to fiddle in the registry, since most people aren't familiar with it at all and you can do a lot of damage if you don't know what you're doing. Of course, it's quicker your way, but I like to give a save tip, given the coice^^ Edited July 22, 2014 by Xelan255
