I'd prefer the shoulder pads and maybe belts from either the leather armour, reinforced leather armour, or the armoured petro-chico jumpsuit. It's not lightly armored (in fact it looks like it's loaded for bear), but tumbajamba made a great armored deathclaw model, PIC; http://static-3.nexusmods.com/15/mods/120/images/7201-1-1279751186.jpg easily enough to put in NV if you want it.
