I'm having trouble installing face mods. The only other mod I have tried besides these is the SkyUI, and that seems to be working fine, if a little slower than the vanilla one.

I tried bella's better females, covergirls, and no more blocky faces and none of them seem to work.

I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. Are they supposed to have a .nps file? I'm just installing things using the NMM.

Edit: I also tried the luxury suite mod and that seems to work fine, but the flora overhaul doesn't work either, so I guess that this problem is just with all of the texture mods.

Texture replacers don't usually have an .esp file.

Open the mods zip and check the folder structure against the folder structure in your Skyrim data file to make sure they're properly installed.

Example:Data/textures/actors/character/female/femalehead.dds

Notes about texture replacers on NPC's

1st

SKSE

you need to hand make a pluggin usually for tints

Skyrim\skse\skse.ini

SKSE.ini

[display]           <----for tints

itinttextureresolution=2048

[general]          <----handles rogue orphan scripts

clearinvalidregistrations=1

just what mine looks like

Also I agree with the posters above you shouldn't be having a problem with those, thing is though the ones you mentioned are prone to the grey face problem on npc's this is because they don't work well with later changes that have been made either by additional mod content or patches to Skyrim.

Instance Coverwomen will cause a greyface on mods.

There are newer mods that wont have these problems..

I'll get back here with some suggestions soon

Get these to alter your NPC's

NPCs of Dibella  (npc overhaul)

You might want to get a skin texture for a specific body type,

I don't know which body your using but it kinda matters

The ones you mentioned work better on vanilla, but now we have CBBE, UNP and varients of unp

So a whole body and face texture pack would help for things to match up, I use Barbarian Milk Drinker skin for Unp

RaceMenu, for player character with tint mask packs that I downloaded seperately

Some other thoughts,

If your installing stuff that makes a direct change to NPC's specifically like say Liddea well she has a facegen,

Thing about Facegen is that it gets baked into the save when you first meet up with the npc, so your stuck with it unless you load up a save from before.

Might try disable enable commands in consul for that stuff.

Before you do ANYTHING else get your textures to show up and once you do go slow with the mods.Rely on the modders instructions for the mods you download and try to keep from getting overwhelmed by too much advice too soon.

Gamefever, I don't have a SKSE.ini file anywhere. I installed SKSE automatically through the mod manager. It's kind of driving me nuts because the luxury suite and associated textures are working perfectly....well almost perfectly, the floor for the backyard/pool area is missing.

the SKSE.ini isn't there by default, you have to make one via editor/notepad whatever. basicly it's just a simple textfile with a different fileending, giving additional parameters.

Still noting. My SKSE file is in data>SKSE>SKSE.ini

inside it:

[Display]
iTintTextureResolution=2048

[General]
ClearInvalidRegistrations=1

[Memory]
DefaultHeapInitialAllocMB=768
ScrapHeapSizeMB=256

This should be the simplest thing to mod...I really am at a loss. Why isn't it working?
