Here's my mod list, after running Boss, and taking some quick suggestions from a friend of mine who told me to avoid a few mods. He unfortunately plays a very different type of game than I'm going for, so his mod list is very different, and he hasn't tried at least two dozen of these mods, never mind together.

Spoiler

If you note any potential major troubles, or fixes, please let me know. I just got Skyrim for PC, so I'm new to this, and I intend to play a very long, ideally smooth playthrough =]

Thanks guys!

first of all: inofficial patches. download them from the nexus, easy to find.

Second: make yourself know with the basics of Tes5Edit.  Boss already told you, that there are dirty edits in the DLCs, which should be cleaned. it also provides a link to a cleaning guide in the report. Same goes for other mods, if the report says so. Watch out for notes in the report in general.

third: switch from BOSS to LOOT, it's it's successor and superior.

edit: crafting overhaul, also comes in handy, fixes many bugs/oversights related to crafting

Hey thanks, just a few quick questions.

Which patches would you recommend?

Heard that, I need to learn more about that it seems.

Just got it, definitely helps.

Perfect, should I get weapons and armor fixes, which is referenced within crafting overhaul?

The unoffcial patches. every single one of them. one for skyrim itself and one for every dlc.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think with the Overhaul I posted + the patches you should be good to go. The infos an the mod page are a bit outdated, since the weapon and armor fixes are a part the unofficial patches today. At least that's what BOSS/LOOT report is telling me.

Okay, awesome. I just downloaded all those, and began using Tes5edit. I've got the vanilla content cleaned (Skyrim, updates, DLC's). In terms of the mods that need cleaning, do I just follow the same routine? That is to say:

apply filter for cleaning
remove identical to master
undelete and disable references
?

yes, just don't forget to save :> in case of the dlc loot recognices the change and shouldn't tell you anymore that there are dirty edits. but that's only the case with the official dlc, other mods need cleaning as well, but loot won't recognise whether it's alredy cleaned or not.

Okay, watched some videos and got a handle on it all. My only last two questions are these, and I'm good to go.

  • Note: Use only one Sounds of Skyrim - The Wilds and CoT patch.

I keep on getting this on both of my patches, but I only have one of each patch. One for SOS - civilization, and one for SOS - The Wilds. Wondering what I'm doing wrong.

Also, what is the best way to launch Skyrim in it's current state? Steam/Nexus? Also, if I launch from Nexus, do I launch SKSE, or launch Skyrim?

The notes are usually always there, if you are 100% sure you are doing it already, you can ignore that. warnings or errors shouldn't be ignored though

always SKSE, doesn't matter if you use the .exe directly or use NMM, just don't use steam since steam launches the launcher, which launches teh TESV.exe. you would have to fiddle with the files to get steam to launch SKSE.

SKSE sort of mounts the game itself. is the game running on it's own, SKSE isn't active.

Awesome, thanks for the help, my game is clean, and about to run for the first time. I look forward to epic quests after my first one, given by the venerated Xelan255. Seriously, you're awesome.
