[WIP] Tamriellic Craftworks

Right, I know for Matth's crossbow (I'm on Beyond Skyrim, implementing the scripting of the crossbow meself).

 

The red gem just doesn't look very gem like. It looks sort of like:

 

THIS COLOR but SOLID

Sorry Matthiaswagg. Seems I've been out in the wilderness for a bit too long; I'll pop in now and again, but aside from a few instances I don't really know who's working on what anymore. You do have a point about that crystal. I'm still playing around with emissive settings in Substance, so what shows up in the renders may or may not be indicative of the final product. It is supposed to have a strong glow though. I may look into making the energists have an emissive inner glow surrounded by a refracting mesh, but I won't have definitive results until I can get the crossbow rigged and running in game. And since I want to focus on asset generation before I dive into rigging, that may be a while yet. Hm. Perhaps I could test the refraction idea using one of my bottle meshes...

 

Speaking of the other crossbow, has it been difficult implementing the new weapon? Scripting's never been my forte so I'll admit I have no idea what would go into that side of things on a project like this.

It's for the semi-automated shooting. I haven't been able to start - my computer's broke and getting fixed.

That much I had guessed (the semi-automatic system, not the broken computer; sorry to hear about that). I'm guessing something has to be set up to interrupt the animation that would normally play between shots, and a new animation needs to be used for replacing the drum. Do you know if there will be any visual indicators for how many shots are left in the magazine? Or is that perhaps intended to be a scripted element displayed on screen?

Today's update: it seems that refraction and glow work beautifully together. I have absolutely no idea how to set up materials to render in that way in Substance, but I can certainly set up the NIFs to take advantage of it when the time comes. Next item in the series is the Dumac Shortsword. I've completed textures for 6 of the 7 versions (no fate texture yet, as I still have to make the glow map. I'll probably spend an hour tomorrow getting that set up and rendering the texture).

Today it's two of the legendary blades: The Dumac Black Shortsword and Longsword of Fate. Effectively they're the same as their conventional cousins, but with oblivium substituted for some of the gold used in the handle and pommel.

Up next.... not sure yet. I've got a list, but I'm not sure exactly what I'll make from it yet. Could be the dagger, the staff, or possibly reworking my old hunting knife mesh to take advantage of the new workflow. Don't quite feel like tackling the 2-handed weapons or the uniques yet.
