Should I just forget about the mod?
I really don't want to but I don't see any other option. (Except buying it on CD.)

You can't buy unofficial mods on a CD... I just downloaded it. Try moving the OMOD to a different location and double-click on it from there, in order to have OBMM load it. I just had the Underdark OMOD do that to me, so I have downloaded it again, and it is working.

It's not easy after that, but from what I saw at the script it's a no-go anyway as it's altering some shaders. The contents are not packaged in an easily recoverable format (from what I can tell.)

Try a re-download, some downloads corrupt at times. I usually place them in the mods-folder of obmm before activating.
Steam shouldn't be the problem, it doesn't at me.

I put this last bad one in the OMODs folder for OBMM, but I am guessing that it was just a bad download too.
