Great story, and nice little campaign. It's a shame that not many could deliver a mod like you have for DA:O. It's a shame that it couldn't rival NwN or surpass Nwn in the number of campaigns/mods, but oh well that's neither here nor there. I don't suppose it ever will either with DA:I on the horizon who knows how many modders will give this title more love in the future.
I enjoyed my first play through, but there were some things I didn't care for. First off the game played shorter than the 7-8 hours for me, but only because there were so many long cut scenes. It was more like watching a movie than playing an RPG. I would have liked more action and just when i think I might get more, after another VERY long series of back to back to back scenes, the game ends. Second, I like to collect loot, IE upgrade weapons and armor etc. I can't do that here
And last I'm not certain that my decisions matter, with the exception of some decisions early on changing a personal outcome, I don't know if decisions right before the end of the game change the direction of the ending at all, which is why I'll play through again and play a more evil character.
So with that said, I still loved the game and hope there's more... but not in 2019.
On another note have you ever modded Skyrim?

First off, thanks for taking the time to download/play this game, and leaving such detailed feedback! So...
Yeah, it's definitely a shame that the community didn't end up being even 10% as good as the NWN. Well, good as in, # of people active in it. But like you say, nothing that can be done about that now. But certainly a shame
And yeah, with regards to DA:I, I knew I had to at least get this out before that, because unless it somehow bombs (not likely), everyone will be playing that for the next few years. Too bad there's no toolset for it
As for the length of the game, yeah, I hear you. I'll be going into more depth about it in an upcoming post-mortem, but it just takes a long time to develop content at the level I'd like it to be at, much more so than with NWN. Add in the fact that this is a new toolset, and well, it just sort of goes with the territory. If I was to start working on another game, I'd have a leg up, as all the custom systems are implemented, I understand level/cinematic design better, and I'm just more comfortable in the toolset than I was 5 years ago.
The above actually applies to your comments on collecting loot. If there was more content in the game (as I had originally intended when the project started), you would have had those opportunities once the game world opened up a bit.
Now, with decisions, they matter, to an extent. Decisions you make early in the game can affect how the final sequence at Bannerman Castle plays out. And of course, as I'm sure you're aware of, decisions made in the first couple of acts definitely have an impact on things within those acts.
In general, unfortunately, it goes back to my above statement about how much time it takes to actually create the content. It's already hard enough to create a linear experience, adding more variables to change how the game plays out in the long run just wasn't feasible for me doing the actual game implementation myself (yes, I had a team working with me, but they were mostly writers, artists, etc.).
I know I sound like a broken record, but truth be told, I've been mentally writing a post-mortem in my head for the past year, and the 2 key negatives that even *I* had were the game length/amount of content, and the horrific process of getting VO into a game
So yeah, can't really argue with anything you have said, it's all correct.
Either way, I'm glad you stuck it out and finished the game. If you did like it, if you have the time, please click the endorse button
I'm new to this site, and I'm not sure how to get this mod more coverage (i.e. on the front page), but I'm sure that that will help the cause.
Oh, and no, I have never even opened up the Skyrim toolkit. I have thought about it, creating my own standalone campaign in the Rose of Eternity world for quite some time. But I'm not sure how well received it would be. Meaning, and again, forgive my ignorance as I'm still new here, but it seems like people are more excited about game mods (armor, weapons, etc.), rather than standalone content/modules. Versus in the NWN days, standalone modules ruled everything. Oh well, maybe I'm just getting old

Btw, I have not forgotten about this review. It's pretty detailed, so it deserves a detailed response

I definitely will endorse your game here. It was a good little play through and with your Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest tunes (not sure what other tunes were in there) it gave me a very nostalgic feeling and the desire to go back and play FF 2 (or IV originally)
If you ever do add on to this here, or mod in Skyrim I'll definitely play both.

I'm not finding anything among the comments, but maybe my searching skills are bad.. But I'm curious if anyone else has found that potion usage in the main game is broken after installing Rose of Eternity?

Someone else brought this up in the 3rd post in the DEFECTS forum. You should make sure to have this mod deactivated when not playing it. It all comes down to how it's packaged, and upon the next release, I'll be changing that.
Sorry for the inconvenience!

Thank you for clarifying, this wasn't the only mod I've added recently but it was the only one that had custom potions and therefore the first place I started my inquiry. I'll uninstall and see if that resolves it, can't wait for your next update so I don't have to uninstall.
