Ah, if that was the case with Dumat, then I think it makes sense.. Hm. Although I'm still somewhat doubtful that the Tevinter Magisters would've come up with something like this.

I still believe that the first Wardens drank AD blood entirely, the process with lyrium was invented at a much later date to conserve the blood they had and the lack of an archdemon to take it from...

They had somehow discovered the process of Joining, and employed it to found a brotherhood that cut all other ties in order to dedicate themselves to fighting the darkspawn. They called themselves the Grey Wardens, and would accept anyone, no matter their race or background, without distinction if only deemed suitable to join the order.

I'm not gonna argue your opinion, as I really do believe that we have the right to believe as we will and want. And I respect that.
I only offer that information as something to consider as an alternate theory.

I do have to ask tho, purely out of curiosity. Why do you think the magisters didnt come up with it?

It just seems like they'd have used the Wardens to be their shock troops or something instead of letting the soldier renounce their oaths to the Imperium. Possibly also because I'd got the idea that it was the warriors who discovered the Joining process and not Magisters, though I will admit they could be one and the same, and were perhaps experimenting with darkspawn/AD blood to find a way to beat them (I half-suspect they actually manged to capture a few darkspawn to experiment on) ... Thedas history is just too interesting for me to let this slip by without a good discussion I guess.. haha.

And yes, my main reason for starting this topic was that I found the "somehow" comment in the codex extremely ambiguous.
