I am using MO, NMM, and Steam for my mods. But now I'm relying on MO to manage them all. Anyways, I've noticed for mainly graphical mods, there are "conflicts." Does it just choose the highest order mod or does it try to do both? If I leave them both checked, am I increasing chances of a corrupt file? For example, I just downloaded Sharpshooter's extreme graphics, but that conflicts with water mod and stars (night sky) mod. Should I delete one? My frames are great but I have yet to test for more than a minute lol.

For the most part , Conflicts between mods are harmless, the Last loaded Mod will always win. That being said, mods that have scripts can break if a mod loaded after wins . Some of this can be handled with Wrye bash and or a TES5Edit Merge patch. both programs can help make mods work together. The game just ignores the conflict Loser.

IF a mod is not working , move it down the Load order. Use LOOT to sort your mods , it does a great job, only needing a little adjustments from time to time.

I run 250+ mods...trust i have a crap ton of "conflicts"...Game runs great.

By the way...use only ONE mod manager...best of the 3 you mentioned = MO. Leave Steam alone unless you want it breaking your game.

Thanks!

But most of mine are installed through Steam and Nexus just because that was before I switched. Is that ok or do I need to change them?

Also does anyone know if sharpshooter's extreme graphics > individual mods like water?

I would suggest to manage all your mods through MO otherwise you can't keep track of any conflicts that can do harm. The left pane of MO is important for load order. Even though a plug-in may be higher in the right pane, the position in the left pane is important because there you manage what overwrites what. In the left pane, the Mod with the highest priority number wins (so 200 beats 1 so to say).

^^^ Are you serious!? First of all I've been sorting them in the right pane so I assumed that was the one that mattered! LOOT has been sorting them but I guess it's only been doing the right column? And I had NO idea that 200 would beat 1... Then why do all the main files go up top? I'm so confused now haha.

I just checked and the right pane, according to the subscript, is load order while the left is installation order. So wouldn't ordering the right be my best best? That's load order.

The right pane is the order in which your esps are loaded. MO though let's you also decide in which order mod's assets are loaded. So, if two mods edit the same armor and one points to mesh "A.nif" while the other points to mesh "B.nif", the plugin load order decides which mesh is loaded ingame ("A.nif" or "B.nif"). However if those two mods point both to mesh "C.nif" but each comes with a different version of mesh "C.nif" (if you weren't using MO you would be prompted to overwrite this mesh when installing the second mod but MO puts them in different foulders), the order in left pane decides which of the two meshes "C.nif" is loaded ingame.

P.S. hope this explanation makes sense, I'm still half asleep and I'm known to speak in a weird way when in this condition

Wow I'm a noob haha. I'm afraid I don't follow because--since I use MO--I don't really know what those abbreviations mean. When I press "sort" in the right pane, is MO organizing it or is LOOT sorting it? I haven't touched the left pane and my level 7 has been fine since day 1 with over 100 mods (though I have a new Pc if that means anything).

EDIT: I now notice LOOT's master list doesn't match up to my "sorted" right pane. Maybe I should put my left pane in the order LOOT says. I should do this manually?

ALSO since a lot of my mods are non-MO should I manually redownload them all? 0_o Because idk how to delete non-MO ones... Can I just uncheck their box in the right pane? I really hope so...

DO as "Bojanni" suggests....let MO and only MO handle everything.

UN subscribe everything from Steam, they should disappear from MO, as they would not be installed any more. Find all of those mods on Nexus instead and then MO can install and track conflicts. IF you have a mod on steam that you MUST have, that is not on the nexus, i can explain a way to do it.  so i will give the short version. (Second thought , as this could get abused by people, i have removed explanation, it can be done, Requires Wrye bash.)

{Explanation removed}

the game Skyrim works top to bottom where the last loaded mod wins.

1

2

3

4

5

1 loses to 2 and below, think of it this way...the game loads mod 1 , now it has this data in memory, then it loads mod 2, if mod 2 changes something from mod 1, it is the winner, as you cant have the same thing twice. This is why install order is as important as Load order. Is useful when doing Graphic only mods also . Put Bethesda HR-DLC's at the very top (# 1) and then all graphic mods that load after, get to win.

^^^ Thank you, sir. I have re-arranged my mods according to LOOT's sort order. I STILL cannot get community uncapper to work (tried a bunch of tutorials) so I'll give up on that for now and let SkyTweak give me extra perks.

I don't think I'll uninstall all the steam ones unless you give me a good reason to do so. I'm not lazy but just have a lot going on right now!

As long as we're on the topic of arranging mods, I have a question about graphical mods load order (I have them in this order):

-Skyrim HD 2k Textures

-Dense Vegetation

-HD Plants & Herbs

-Pure Weather

-Static Mesh Improvement Mod

-Pure Waters

-Detailed Outskirts

-Sharpshooter's Extreme Graphics ENB

I heard Sharpshooter's is really good. That's why I have it last. But I guess I should move it just below Skyrim HD 2k Textures since none of the other ones are big enough to override anything huge (plus water mod probably looks better than sharpshooter's water since the whole mod is based around water lol).

I appreciate all this help everyone and I'll be reading this post and the forum!!!
