Trisuniel
Thanks for your ini files. I used them plus a tweaking guide to help me configure the game to look great. However, there is some noticeable lag. The does game use than one core or is this something that needs to be unlocked. If it does, how do I unlock it and will it help with the lag? Here are my current inis:https://www.dropbox.com/s/zlrxsgxryo4pcly/Skyrim.ini?dl=0https://www.dropbox.com/s/d6iobg0s3r5r4l1/SkyrimPrefs.ini?dl=0 Also fixing that 1e+007 didn't fix the low quality textures. I did get some graphics mods and it did help but still lower quality than other textures. EDIT: I got skyui but clicking on a texture still only gives a hex code thing and nothing else. Kriiks
From looong time ago, when I used vanilla textures and very few mods, I remember having hideous rock textures in some places too. Some of them felt like stretched out very badly and were horribly blurry. Your PC is decent, id recommend looking SMIM too.. its corrects some rock meshes and many many others horrible looking items in game.If those rocks really bother you, you can also try http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/54540/? or http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49676/? . There are tons of rock retextures available of course, those two are just examples and I like them both. They both have some mesh corrections included too. For Vivid you need non-enb patch too if you're not using enb.Actually I'm using 4k version of SRTO currently, because I still felt like 2k just isn't good enough everywhere. But that's just personal taste.
Trisuniel
I contacted Bethesda and this was what they told me:"Thank you for contacting us back. The most likely cause of the low textures is just the graphics optimization for the game; we have a test machine here, and went to the same location that you described in the forum post. We saw very similar results with the textures of the two rocks. The game reduces texture rendering on certain objects to improve FPS, and as it turns out, we don't know of a way to improve this without the use of 3rd party mods as it is hard-coded into the game." So from the look of it, that horrible looking rock texture is apparently normal. Awesome. Would be nice if there was a mod that prevents the game from reducing texture rendering. Using texture mods do increase the quality of the textures but the same certain objects still have the quality reduced. the only difference being is that it reduces the quality from the enhanced texture instead of the vanilla. Still looks bad though since I like having textures that match in quality with their surroundings. If you know of a mod that does what Bethesda and I described, I would love to know about it. I did try SMIM and it didn't seem to fix that issue. Edited September 23, 2014 by Danielzxzx
Nazgren
Really? That seems strange, i would have thought your PC could handle Skyrim no problem, your ram is overkill, I've run Skyrim on ultra with texture packs with less powerful GPU's and not seen it and your CPU is more powerful then mine! What sort of FPS do you usually get? There's a chance that an ENB could prevent it, but i may well be wrong. A plain (no preset) ENB configured correctly and with ENB boost, etc could probably make your game faster while also providing a huge increase in visual quality. It it just makes the game laggier then you can just delete the files and carry on as normal, it doesn't have any sort of mark on saved games, etc.ENB download siteENboost (important)ENB reference (Not important but greatly beneficial)If you configure your ENB properly it can do most of its work and some of your GPUs in your crazy amount of ram, which should allow you to have many of the benefits of an ENB without much strain on your GPU. As you currently stand i would say Skyrim is probably not even using 1 gb of ram, may as well put some of that other 15 to good use :). Just make sure if you do decide to try it that you turn off Anti-aliasing in skyrim, etc, before you turn it on in your ENB
Trisuniel
I don't use ENB. I get a stable 60 fps even with 4k textures. I guess it lowers the quality of some textures regardless of how powerful your computer is or something. Maybe you can go to the exact same location with the same instructions Bethesda used and tell me how the texture looks there. Please take a screenshot of it if you can even if it looks the same as how mine is. Instructions:1. Fast travel to Lakeview Manor.2. As soon as you spawn, turn right and go to the rocks.3. Hug the rocks while moving left.4. As soon as you pass a pile of logs, you should find yourself going up a tiny bit while still hugging the wall.5. you will reach the area I am talking about. Please take a screenshot of that same area so I can see how it should look. Edited September 23, 2014 by Danielzxzx
Trisuniel
This issue is also with dragons!http://i.imgur.com/xjeoAOd.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/6nQUIyC.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/d1gmioQ.jpghttp://i.imgur.com/gfTSmG8.jpg However once the dragon is killed, it switches to the proper texture:http://i.imgur.com/3jf0P4p.jpg What is going on? Nazgren
I diddn't ask if you did, I'm saying you should, especially if you can run with a 4k texture pack :P. Fixes many issues and provides a massive boost in game quality. Will go get those screenshots you asked for now.
Trisuniel
What I'm trying to do though is have it so rock textures match in quality, with or without 4k textures. Without mod: http://i.imgur.com/0K8JNAy.jpgWith mod: http://i.imgur.com/mGzTy45.jpg As you can see, the rock texture on the right side is still lower quality than the left side even with the 4k texture. This is what bothers me, textures that don't match. I explored a bit of the game this issue is popping up everywhere. Random textures being low quality. Nazgren
Here, Its certainly not happening on mine and i do sometimes struggle for FPS:http://i.imgur.com/rPdAbt9.jpgAn ENB may solve the issue, as it takes control of much of the texturing process, but if you don't want to use one then its up to you.
