ive been having dreams of me and this girl talking to each other in a class (not sure what the class is), but every time, its about something different. at some point during the course of these dreams, my subconcious has grown a deep caring for this girl, and i dont even know who she is supposed to be. last night, i had the dream again and it was about her saying goodbye to everybody. by this time, we had built a romantic relationship although i never dreamt of anything other than talking to her in some sort of classroom. anyways, she was saying goodbye to everyone like she was leaving. I asked her where she was going, and she said she was done with her work. i guess this was supposed to be the last day she was there, because i told her to let me know if she ever saw me again because i might not recognize her. i seriously dont understand why ive been having dreams of the same person everytime i sleep for the past two weeks. and i have no idea who she is supposed to be. never seen her before in my life. any advice would be most welcome.

Hm!

My opinion would be... That I would take it with a grain of salt. Often, recurring dreams are sparked via a self-fulfilling prophecy kind of way - that is, we spend a significant amount of time thinking about what we've dreamt, which in turn causes the likelihood of us having similar ones to increase.

For myself, I don't hold much weight into trying to decipher dreams, but we do tend to dream about themes that have been on our mind, so instead of focusing on the specifics of your dreams, I'd recommend looking at it more generally.

What are the major themes? It seems like the setting (school) is one, the blossoming romance, and the girl's company. Is there any relation to the three in your every day life as of right now? If yes, how so?

You'll probably learn a lot about your own current life circumstances and your feelings about them by doing that. Maybe there's something that's been on your mind a bit abstractly, significant enough in importance, but just not a thing you've been able to identify more concretely.

That asidee, I'd guess that the reason this dream has been continuing to repeat has been because you've been thinking about it/analyzing it. I'm sure it stood out to you as something novel, so with the dream itself on your mind, thinking about it frequently probably raised the likelihood of it to repeat.

There isn't very much information out there on why dreams occur. There are a few hypotheses that suggest they're present while the mind is refreshing itself during REM, but the exact cause is debatable.

If you'd like the dreams to stop, I think they will if you simply try to slowly avoid thinking about it/reminiscing on its details. 'Out of sight and out of mind' surprisingly works well when it comes to the themes present in our dreams.

You can use a more detached POV to lessen the emotions you have in response to your dream. Don't dwell.

(I can include sources to any of things I mentioned above, if you want, btw. *psych/research dork* :') !!
