I have been test-playing with this mod for a few hours. So far the stuff I found was quite decent. The only thing I'd change is that items have too many properties for my taste. For instance, I found a Lyrium-loaded Sword of bla bla (I do not remember exactly) and it had +1 spellpower (which corresponds to the sword's name) plus three other different magical properties unrelated (+3 strength, +2 constitution etc) with the item's name. Is it possible to kind of reduce the amount of magical properties and and/or make them match items' names a little more? Simply put, make items more realistic as to what properties a specific item will bear? For example, a spellpower property would be restricted to a mage's clothing, swords would only bear offensive attributes properties like strength, armours could be tied to defensive attributes like defense, resistances etc. Anyway, good work so far jonpetro. Thanks in advance for your or anybody else's ideas.

And one more thing. I also stumbled upon a shield with a
"+- 3 damage". It does not make much sense to me. Can this be altered as well? Moreover, I think that items should always carry at least one positive property to compensate for negative ones. Who would like to use items with only negative ststs?

@Falloutgears:
I posted an update that allows you to disable the "item added" message using NoFloaty=1 in the DragonAge.ini
Enjoy.

@svatoslav:
Hmm. I'm not sure why the item wasn't named according to it's stats - there are very strict naming conventions in place, and in many hundreds of items I haven't run across any that didn't bear the proper names. The only exception to this is if an item surpasses 4 properties, only the first 4 will be included in the name, however those listed should always corroborate with 4 different properties on the item.
If you feel the items have too many properties for your liking, you can set PropRate=<value> in your DragonAge.ini to reduce the base chance of subsequent properties being added to an item (Default is 33, ie. 1 in 3).
The "+-" is simply a -All Attributes property, which is a very rare (and of course very bad) property. There is roughly an even chance of a property being good or bad, as most positive properties have negative counterparts, in this case it is the opposite of the (very good) +All property.
There are pretty strict conditions for property placement, and most of the time they should make sense. Stuff like +spellpower can go on heavy armor for cases like Arcane Warriors, but completely useless stats like +Rapid Aim on a melee weapon are restricted.
The placement restrictions will probably be refined more in future updates, but right now they should offer a decent balance of good and bad drops. It's just the luck of the draw, so to speak.
I hope this addresses your query, and as always I really appreciate the feedback.
Regards,
Jon
ETA: I do sort of fancy the idea of allowing only 1 negative property for each positive property. I've been considering implementing something like that, and I might do so in the near future.

Thanks for the explanation. It now makes perfect sense to me how the mod actually works. I'll look forward to the next release.

I'm having a few weird problems with the latest updates (v2.05). The enemy hp bar display is not decreasing although they do damage and die. At the Battle of Ostagar, the knight does not prevent me from bothering the mage ritual, Daveth's flirting with the random female warrior does not automatically trigger, and I can walk past the exit near the infirmary. In addition, backpacks no longer increase my inventory space. Is anyone else having these issues?

Glad to hear that this mod makes the previously unimplemented item properties actually do something, but is there any chance of you briefly summarizing their specific effects in the readme? For instance, I can sort of guess what weakens & bloodies does, but not to the point that I could differentiate it from vicious, and I have no idea what lucky and morrigan's protection are supposed to do at all.

Thanks for the update! I was wondering why there were so few rings, amulets, and belts dropping. I found only one so far, and that a belt with one property.
