i was really considering using this mod to create my real dragon age nightmare mode, but thanks to the comments on this page i will save myself a lot of time and stress. Sadly the Dragon Age mod community is not as big as fallout or skyrim one. Thanks for the attemp at least jonpetro.

Love this mod, but with the crapload of extra items being dropped, I have 300 gold before I reach Bodahn! Maybe fix prices? I don't know if it's just me but 300 gold BEFORE Bodahn is just ridiculous! And overpowered, because at that point you could buy the axe Bodahn sells for 120 something gold!

To those like me who are sitting in 2014, re-living the DAO experience after a long time, this mod is a must. Most of the complaints you'll read below (including long rants from a single, particularly frustated gamer) come rather from unability to configure the .ini to decrease the drop/quality/difficulty rate properly, hardware defficiencies, or unrelated issues that deal with spell effects which can be solved easily via other tools you'll find at these very forums. I've used it and tested it extensively for a long time now, and have yet to encounter a serious problem, if any at all. And no it has never, ever crashed for me.

Just two things regarding this mod are actually worthy of particular attention:
* The Silverite Mines bug in Awakening is the SOLE actual problem I've found in a least 10 gameplays. Solution is provided at several posts below.
* Using this mod with Combat Tweaks will make battles early in game completely unwinnable.

The one thing to keep in mind if you don't want this mod to break the game in terms of difficulty is, TWEAK THE ITEMS DROP and QUALITY RATES. The sole time I've ever quit a gameplay entire while using this mod taught me that it's far better to have very few drops, from elite bosses only so as to not overpower your party, yet having at least some reward that can actually help you against the very hard gaming experience this mod can bring. At the very gate of the tower of Ishal, I had to face 3 yellow darkspawn AND an orange Emmisary that wiped my butt over and over... only to find four yellow bosses more (including an ogre) AND a huge orange drake inside, and that before ground 3! Having chosen not to get any drops at all except from bosses, you can imagine the tremendous fight I faced and the challenge I had never, ever encountered in this game before.

As with everything in life, don't let others tell you what to do. Try it and judge for yourself. I don't regret it in the least.

In response to post #11992510.

I decided to trust the endorsements of +200 people rather than the rants of ONE gamer at this page, and guess what, I'm very happy I did. Loving this mod, which pretty much resurrected the game for me.

This post is sort of a reply to tiane below me as well as to inform anyone who are still interested in playing dragon age origins in 2014.

I've tested this mod extensively within the module of origins so far, however, there are several things i'd like to address to anyone who questions the quality of this mod.

I will answer these so called "problems" or bugs or whatever excuses gamers who complained here have said before.

1. If you cant find your dragonage.ini file then you shouldnt be playing mods imho; location is below :
C: > Users > "YOUR USERNAME" > Documents > BioWare > Dragon Age > Settings > Dragonage.ini (note, its not DAOriginsConfig, it should be right below it)

2. If you have NON-interactive NPC/Monsters/Mobs/Casters [generally its the mage mobs] it's because of a bug from the mod, the solution and explanation is below : download my bug fix files from nexus just search slinks on the search menu you should find it.

Currently I have my own modded version which i tweaked myself for slinks ravage that allows me to simply check/uncheck my ravage mods from my game without uninstalling anything. I also modded the hp limit to 99999 (original game is 9999) and lowered the stamina regeneration back to -20/20. If anyone is interested in my tweaked version please check it out on nexus.

[EDIT]
My problems don't seem to come from the "slinks s3 Ravage" mod anymore, even if it could cause some heavy lag.
Try it on your own before reading anything further, as it's such a great mod.

>>><<<<<<<<<<<<

It took me a while to understand why playing DAO was becoming more and more… complicated to have fun with, as I was progressing into the story…
As much as I find that mod being a hell of a job, I had to turn it off for two reasons mostly:

- I realized DAO became a pain to play lately, everything was laggy and buggy, and I couldn't open a single door without being scared, not of the enemies, but of the lag they would cause, and seing these awful armors turning to plain flat black, as a sort of last warning your game is just about to crash on you. And I would never lower any of my graphic options as I play DAO mainly for it's beauty, with all the cosmetic mods I could find around to make it look even nicer. With a very decent computer which should be more than able to handle the whole without a blink.
For the records, I play a few newer and heavier than DAO games on that same comp without any problems.
- Overpowered items, a part which I believe could be taken care off by some ".ini file" rewriting, but as the pleasure of playing DAO came back as soon as I turned "slinks s3 RAVAge" off, I don't really see the point anymore.

Some conflict? Maybe, but if it is so, it's way out of my technical league to find out which. And I doubt it…
I play on a Mac? A DAO PC game which has been ported to MacOSX with Cider? A part of the problems? That might be very possible, but again, I play a few other "Cidered" games with nothing but the fun out of them.

I'm very sorry having to make such a negative comment about such a masterpiece, but I believe criticism for being constructive and only for the better which should come out of it. And I might not be the only player not able to fully enjoy that greatest game anymore without having any clue about what's not going on, before you finally find out through some sort of luck, as I did, to keep silent.

Still, as I said earlier, that's a hell of a job you did here, jonpetro.
Something big might come out of this. And it already has, if I read most of the comments below…

In response to post #15506935.

I've been experimenting a bit further, and if the lag became next to zero again, since I turned SS3R off, there is still some lurking around. So it might have to do with a Mac playing DAO under Cider more than I thought, and not SS3R's fault only...

Hey, found more problems with slinks RAVage today in the middle of my playthrough, if anyone else has experienced this issue please let me know. Currently, Both Locname "Elven Healer" and "Zombie Priest" are spawned as non-interactive in my game and I am going to fix this. if I cannot fix it, I will remove these UTC and the relating spawn scripts along with them. As I am not too experienced in this kind of modding, I may not succeed indeed. I will update this post soon.

For anyone curious about these UTC files they are located in addins modules folders in the erfs the names are : s3_normal_caster_elf_healer, s3_normal_zomb_ca_healer. Currently I have found that their group Id's are messed up. If I find more issues I may need expert help to actually fix this...

EDIT/UPDATE !!! : I FIXED IT OMFG !!!
Basically now both Zombie Priests and Elven Healers both spawn correctly as they should, no more non-interactive mob spawns and such. I have uploaded a fix on nexus just search slinks for it.
I also posted a picture to prove that I have indeed fixed these bugs here : http://www.nexusmods...e/Images/44011/
Feel free to comment on that and reply.
